Cussons Mum & Me Sleep, Skin and Hair Range

Earlier this week my roaming reporter from DaisychainBaby ventured out on her second assignment to review the new "Mum & Me" skincare range launched by Cussons.  She is also hosting a rather fabulous competition to win a lovely selection from the range, you can enter it here and admire the picture below of the prize!

"As I’m not a mum (yet!!!) I knew my input would be limited, but I’m pleased to say that many of the products would be useful to me anyway as a super-hard-working and therefore very-sleep-deprived gal in my early 30s, in need of all the beauty help I can get!

The new range incorporates 22 products and addresses three key needs of mum and baby – sleep, skin, and hair and has been designed to help with every stage of the journey – from bump, to new mum, to baby. It’s a known fact that whether a mum or not, very few women if any are able to rely on one brand for their health and beauty regime and so Cussons have developed the collection which is designed by mums and developed by experts and is based on insights following research with over 1200 mums.
The Bump collection has 7 products, including a Stretch Mark Cream and Cool and Relieve Soothing Spray – great for those swollen feet and helping the uncomfortable stages of pregnancy, especially in hot weather (not that we get too much of that in this country it seems!) I would certainly make use of it – I suffer swollen ankles when I step anywhere within 10 miles of a plane and having to fly long-haul for work sometimes means that I disembark with ankles wider than the rest of my body. The peppermint scent was a little strong for my liking as I’m not a huge fan of mint, but I understand its cooling/soothing properties and it wouldn’t put me off using it. The Bump range also includes a lovely giftbag with the Relax & Unwind Bath Soak, Relax & Unwind Sleep Mist, Smooth & Glow Pregnancy Shampoo and Soothe & Nourish Body Lotion – a snip at £15.99 and perfect pressie for an expectant mum.
The New Mum collection has 5 products, including a Calm & Soothe Arnica Bath Soak and the overwhelming favourite, Skip The Wash Dry Shampoo. Because, as the other ladies said, who has time to wash their hair, yet expecting visitors still means you need to look presentable! Another popular product in this collection was the Stretch Mark Fader, which came in an easy-to-apply roller ball bottle and is a unique triple moisturising serum that contains Lupin Seed extract, Pomegranate and Tamanu oils. This is something else I would use – the only clue which gives away my former life as a size 16 in my early 20s are the silvery stretch marks I have around my lower back. They’ll probably never go and are a reminder not to eat too many cakes plus a little victory that age is NOT a barrier to weight loss, but I’d certainly give the Stretch Mark Fader a go. It was also suggested that a shower gel could be a good addition to the range, again owing to time constraints many new mums do not have the luxury of taking baths regularly, if at all.
The Baby collection has 9 products, including Ultra Mild Baby Wipes and Sleep Tight Bath Wash. I loved the Sleep Tight Massage Oil and Sleep Tight Balm, both of which smelled amazing. There is also an Emollient Bath Wash and Emollient Body Cream to help the very delicate and sometimes sensitive skin of new babies. The entire baby collection is hypoallergenic and paediatrician-approved.
Overall, I was very impressed with the collection. The products look good, smell great and are well within budget, starting at £1.39 for 50ml of Cleanse & Protect Hand Gel up to the most expensive solo products being 125g of Stretch Mark Cream and 70ml of Stretch Mark Fader, both at £9.99. If I was in the market for these products I would definitely buy them, and would also buy them for others too. As Cussons say: “There’s so much pressure to be the ‘perfect mother’ but no one can live up to these ideals. Cussons Mum & Me want mums to feel good about the mothers they are, not the mothers they think they should be, and to trust their own instincts so they can embrace the ups and downs the journey brings”. Cussons Mum & Me is available in Boots, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and ASDA."
