Teaching Independence

My eldest son had a meeting alongside other pupils of his year about the importance of fostering independence; saying they now need to be accountable for their bag, make sure they bring in their homework and fruit and so fourth.

Being a bit of a hover mummy, I do find it hard to let them take these little steps into independence.  I know some parents already have children washing dishes and helping around the house in other ways.

I think its time I lessened my mummy reins and let them flourish and develop into their own lovely little personalities.

Today I let youngest make his own lunch.  Tiny steps, I can do this…

He then ate it all!
