Barnardo's The Nation’s Fridge Door Campaign

I am exceptionally proud of my boys, of course we have our moments, which families don’t, but they know they are loved and we praise them for their achievements.  So I was quite keen to get behind this campaign by Barnardo’s as not all children have the same opportunities as others.  Children crave the attention of their parents, they want to be accepted, feel important and valued and displaying their creative work can really bluster their self-confidence.

Here is a picture of our fridge door:

I love seeing what they come up with, it’s a little peak at what goes through their imaginative minds!  Our fridge door has an interesting mixture of stickers, drawings and pictures of my two boys, its lovely for them to see their drawings mean so much to us.  We like displaying them proudly and having an area just for them in the kitchen.  They go through funny stages of enjoying drawing one particular thing, eldest went through a phase of just drawing snails and youngest is big on robots at the moment.

Sadly not all children get this encouragement from their parents, circumstances can be very different in some families.  Not every child has someone supportive to turn too.

Everyone can get involved in this campaign to help raise awareness.  Barnardo’s are planning a big virtual fridge door and your child’s artwork or picture can feature there alongside that of many other children for the whole nation to admire.
