We were sent a delightful bundle of The Very Hungry Caterpillar products to coincide with the 45th anniversary of the book! It’s hard to believe it’s been around quite that long but I do remember it fondly from my own childhood and I am 35 now! My two boys enjoyed their introduction to The Very Hungry Caterpillar a few years ago their book is now looking a little dog-eared as its one story they return to again and again.
Eric Carle’s book has such lovely illustrations; it’s a real page-turner. It’s funny hearing what the caterpillar eats and children cannot get enough of it. Since its original release its enchanted many children through the years and the range has developed considerably in that time. Alongside the lovely books that have been translated into over 60 languages, you can now get interesting craft supplies (chalks shaped like strawberries and a cute stamper set both priced at RRP £9.95) and toiletries (hand soap and bubble bath, RRP £3.50 each).
If your children already love the story the accompanying products will go down well with them. I think they are ideal for Christmas or even baby showers, as the cloth book (RRP £10.99) means you can share the magic of the story with your baby from a younger age. The divided plate (RRP £7.95) is handy too; I always used these when mine were little to portion out their lunch more temptingly. On an appealing plate they were always more receptive to eating their healthy snacks!
If your decking out a nursery the wall stickers look the part brightening up the space and adding an educational element with the numbers and counting. Currently priced at £8 on Amazon they cover a reasonable area for the money.
I was very happy to join in the 45th birthday celebrations, long may The Very Hungry Caterpillar delight and charm children.
