My youngest son keeps returning to my brother (his uncles) dog eared ancient Beano book from years gone by with earnest so I was so happy he was sent a refreshed 2015 annual to treasure. He seems to relate well to the character of Dennis the Menace, as he can be quite mischievous when he wants to be and very strong willed!
Annuals are ideal for Christmas, I used to get one every year from my parents so I like having the same tradition in our household. The Beano 2015 annual is currently only £3.95 on Amazon, so a bargain at that price! You can soon pad out Christmas with a few clever purchases like this. Plus when my boys are absorbed in a book peace reigns supreme, they settle down nicely and get drawn into the pages. Normally its like a wrestling match 24/7 otherwise.
The front cover of the annual has Dennis the Menace and Gnasher catching the Beanotown Express train from London’s St Pancras station and to coincide with that some fun and mischief was planned there. You can still make the Friday activity, which is a Beano author Q&A session, ideal for some half term entertainment perhaps! But if you cannot make that there is an exhibition of old annual covers and a few photo opportunities to be had so well worth a visit regardless.
The Beano is full of humour and makes me feel very nostalgic, I am glad to see my youngest enjoy it so much. Lots of the usual suspects make a come back too such as Minnie the Minx and Roger the Dodger, a real trip down memory lane for us adults. The cartoon strip with Dennis the Menace as a baby was quite entertaining, he was always somewhat of a handful bless him!
For cheeky little boys and wistful parents you cannot go wrong with Beano.
