Camel Up Review and Giveaway

Playing board games is something we very much enjoy as a family and Camel Up has been a welcome addition to the ones we currently own.  It offers something a bit more exciting getting caught up trying to back the right camel.

The game does require a small amount of setting up, its very straight forward to do, you just need to build the pyramid that you use to get the coloured dice out to propel the camels forward.  The instructions for play are very clear; once you have had one game you get the hang of it pretty quickly.

It’s a very tense game; you do get caught up in the competitive nature of the game.  You also have no idea who will really win, because it’s down to how well the camels do at each stage and of course the final tally at the end.  But the most promising camel can quite easily end up coming last, because of the way the movement in the race works.  If you end up stacked on top of another camel you get to move along with it on its turn with the dice.  You can also think strategically by using your desert tile to try and influence the outcome of the race, we started to use these after a couple of legs once we got to grips with the game.

My eldest won in the end with a princely sum of 30 Egyptian pounds, I was a close second with 27 and my youngest had 20 whilst hubbie had only 17 pounds to his name.  To be honest I got most of my pounds at the very end as I had managed to guess the winner and loser correctly!  It was a very close game in the end as you can see from the picture below.

I am sure it was an element of beginners luck for me but it topped up my stash quite nicely!  If you guess incorrectly you are penalised but it’s worth the punt because the reward is much greater is your right.

Camel Up is available to buy from Amazon (RRP £24.99) and also from your friendly local game shop, if your thinking about possible Christmas presents this one would definitely get our seal of approval, especially as 8 can play so perfect when you have the extended family over.
I have a copy of Camel Up to giveaway if you would like to enter please fill out the form below by the 28th of July.
