My favourite DFS Sofa Food & Hamper Competition

It
was exciting times when our DFS corner sofa first arrived three years
ago. We bought it in the sale and it’s
wearing well, especially considering the boys jump all over it and the dog
kicks off the scatter cushions looking for her toys!

We
love our living room it’s our sanctuary, a place to relax and unwind, settle
down comfortably and enjoy some decent TV and snacks. We do have a sweet tooth so our go to snack is usually hubbie’s
Rocky Road; hubbie cuts it in huge slabs the perfect size for an indulgent
treat teamed up with a pot of tea and I am incredibly happy!

I
think homemade is always nicer than shop bought, especially when hubbie does
not skimp on the ingredients, lots of Cadbury’s chocolate make it extra
delicious. We have debated trying a new
concoction but for now the raisins, marshmallows and cherries work
perfectly. But we might well experiment
in the future and exchange the digestives for oreo’s or ditch the raisins and
cherries so we can cram in more chocolate, like rolo’s and maltesers.

Rocky Road

1
packet of plain digestives

400g
Cadbury’s Chocolate

1
tin of Condensed Milk

Pack
of Raisins

Pack
of Marshmallows

Tub
of Cherries

100g
Butter

Melt
the butter and chocolate over a low heat

Mix
in the condensed milk

With
a rolling pin break up the digestive biscuits

Add
the remaining ingredients a little at a time

Then
spread the mixture on a baking tray and refrigerate for an hour

Cut
into slices then return to the fridge for a further hour

My hubbie makes some mighty fine #rockyroad x

  1. Kale crisps – fresh kale, stalky bits removed, ripped into bite-sized chunks and tossed in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and a little salt. Spread in a single layer on a baking tray and bake at about 180 for about 10-12 minutes (keep an eye on them to make sure they don't burn). Serve. Yummy and ridiculously moreish.

  2. Oh we LOVE Sofa snacks! Especially on our movie night πŸ™‚ I normally prepare some volavants filled with chicken pieces in a white sauce (you can either use tinned chicken and white sauce or make your own) I normally make my own it is quick and easy πŸ™‚ I just use the same method as I would for making macaroni (excluding the cheese)
Volavants are so tasty and you can fill them with anything you like they are quite filling but VERY addictive πŸ™‚

  3. Saturday Night is our family night and also when our sofa snacks flow freely !! ….. Homemade popcorn salted and sweet, we also always make cakes on the day which are shared in the evening too xxx

  4. 1. Go to the supermarket
    2. Purchase crisps of choice
    3. Return home
    4. Position self in comfy position on sofa
    5. Open crisp packet and fend off the dog
    6. Eat crisps as fast as possible without getting caught by family

  5. Turkey rolls!! Make stuffing from turkey mince, onion, parsley, mustard, grated carrot, celery and apple. Roll up in low-fat puff pastry and bake until golden brown. They are lush!

  6. My favourite sofa snack recipe is my flapjack – it's just a basic oats, butter, sugar & syrup recipe, but sometimes try to be healthier by putting mixed seeds and raisins in πŸ˜‰

  7. Cheese, ham, crispy bacon and mushroom open omelette, topped with cheese and then finished off under the grill.

  8. I can't stop cooking at the moment, I'm just loving it! So at the moment it would be a giant trifle, scones with clotted cream and jam or a chocolate cake.
Savoury things would be chicken wings with a dip or chicken wraps. yum

  9. Nachos! Salted tortilla chips, a homemade salsa (onion, pepper, tomato in a food processor for a couple of pulses), and cheese. Layer it and oven or grill for a few minutes until all the cheese is melted. Messy deliciousness. πŸ˜€

  10. Chewy microwave flapjacks
    75g (3 oz) butter
5 tablespoons light brown soft sugar
    2 tablespoons golden syrup
    150g (5 oz) porridge oats
    50g (2 oz) sultanas
50g (2 oz) glace cherries, chopped
50g (2 oz) dried apricots, chopped
Place the butter, sugar and syrup in a microwave safe bowl and cook on high power for 1 to 2 minutes, or until butter is melted. Stir in the oats, sultanas, cherries and apricots and mix thoroughly.
Press mixture into a small greased baking dish. Cook on high power for about 5 minutes or until the centre is bubbling. Allow to cool then cut into squares.

  11. a family classic edge an oven proof plate with bacon then fill the middle with cheese , a halved tomato and halved mushrooms ..bake in a hot oven for 15-20 mins then add an egg and bake for a further 10 mins (until bacon is crispy ) serve immediately(warning its hot) and mop up the juices with dry bread !! yummy

  12. I love my cheesy dip! Layer of Philadelphia cheese, layer of Salsa and topped with grated mozzarella! Bake in the oven and you've got a delicious dip which we like to serve with tortilla crisps!

  13. Cheesy baked eggs are our favourites. Two slices of wafer thin ham in a muffin tray, crack an egg into it & top with grated cheese, then bake until egg is set. Perfect snacks
