Ear surgery probably wasn’t the first entry you were expecting to see on this list, but here it is: otoplasty rose significantly in popularity in 2016, with thousands of people opting to have their ears surgically altered. The surgery involves ‘flattening’ the ears against the head by cutting into the ear cartilage and suturing the ear closer to the head. Ear pinback surgery usually takes a couple of hours to complete and be done with local anaesthetic as an outpatient procedure. Ear augmentation is a slightly trickier, but very similar procedure, during which additional cartilage is added to the ear. The cartilage is normally taken from the ear itself, but may also be harvested from the rib cage.
One of the most popular cosmetic surgeries is the facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, the aim of the facelift is to give a more youthful facial appearance by tightening the skin and banishing wrinkles and sags. During the procedure, the skin is peeled away from the face and artfully re-draped over the patient’s face and neck. Excess skin from around the eyes and chin is also removed, and the ears may be moved slightly to create balance in the face. Patients can opt to undergo either a full facelift or a partial facelift depending on their needs. Partial facelifts typically focus on areas of the face that are particularly susceptible to signs of ageing, such as the forehead, around the eyes and cheeks, and around the mouth and chin.
Botox may not require a stint under the knife, but it is still one of the world’s most popular cosmetic treatment. The treatment is used to give the appearance of a more youthful face by relaxing the facial muscles and thereby reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The procedure is both less invasive and less expensive than conventional facelift surgery, but still yields good results. The only drawback is that the effects of Botox are temporary, and the treatment has to be repeated. As well as being used in the face, Botox can also be injected into the armpits and other areas of the body to alleviate symptoms associated with excessive sweating.
Breast Lift Surgery
Breast lift surgery is one of the most popular form of surgery; unlike breast reduction and ‘boob job’ surgery, it doesn’t involve making the breasts larger and smaller, but simply works to lift the breasts to give a more youthful, uplifted appearance. The surgery may also involve removing the nipple and transposing it to an area higher up on the breast. Breast lift surgery is a popular for choice for women wishing to improve the appearance of their breasts without augmenting their size. There are a wide range of specialist surgeons in this field, like Harley Medical in the south and Gary L Ross in the North West.
The nose is perhaps the first feature we noticed when we see a person’s face for the first time. The nose is located in the centre of the face and, as such, attention is naturally diverted towards it. It’s no surprise then that, for many of us, our nose is the feature we hate the most, and the one we want to change. Rhinoplasty continues to be one of the most popular types of cosmetic surgery available, and it seems it’ll stay that way forever.
