I have a bit of a crush on Keanu Reeves, so I am excited to watch Replicas a sci-fi thriller that keeps you on your toes.  It’s quite a sad start to the film with him losing his entire family in a car accident.  His wife Mona and his three children.  But Keanu who plays neuroscientist Will Foster is determined not to say goodbye to them just yet and wants to transfer their consciousness into cloned bodies.  I guess the title was a bit of a giveaway!  Replicas meaning copies and duplication.  So, he asks his friend and lab partner Ed Whittle to give him a hand.  Although they haven’t had much success so far.  There previous attempt ended badly.  But the reason why becomes clearer as the film progresses.

The film raises lots of issues about the consequences of scientific breakthroughs.  Will Foster has his work cut out too.  Time is running out to make a success of preserving their minds.  He must stop dishonest police and the government wanting to get in on the action!  You can feel the suspense building as you know Will only has one shot at making it work.

The film sees Will Foster have to make some tough decisions.  I really don’t envy his choices.  I don’t want to give away too much of the plot though!  Personally, I would have done things differently myself.  Not so much about deciding to try cloning but more about the sacrifice he must make.

Replicas is on Digital Download from 22 April and Blu-ray & DVD from 29 April, so you don’t have to wait long to see how the story unfolds.
