My husband proposed to me on a romantic walk.  For me I felt it was one of the best places to propose as it was so close to where we live.  It’s nice when a proposal happens somewhere easy enough for you to return one day!  We have been back many times to that special memory.  We have even taken our children to the very same spot so they could see where their dad proposed.  However, lots of people like to propose at iconic locations or buildings.  Even if that means travelling a considerable distance to get there.

When it comes to the best places to propose I guess you need to think about ways the location can make it extra special.  Given that a survey found 21 per cent of people were disappointed with their proposal it is worthwhile trying to get the details perfect!  Although I think that survey found that most people seemed disappointed with the ring over anything else.  Apparently, it wasn’t big enough or flashy enough, so when you click here for engagement rings make sure you keep that in mind!  Less is not always more.

Perhaps if you get the location right maybe the bride to me would be more forgiving of the size of the ring.  Here are some ideas to get the place right.

Make It Memorable

In SEA LIFE London you can book an underwater proposal!  One of their trained divers will hold up a board saying, “Will you marry me?”.  Although it will set you back £250 and if I am honest, I would prefer my future husband to hold the board not a diver I don’t even know!  However, that’s not taking away from the proposal its still very original and clever.

Still sticking with London, you could hire out your own capsule on the London Eye.  The views on there are spectacular.  I could imagine it would be even more magical in night with the city lights twinkling in the background.  But you will need to dig a bit deeper in those pockets, this experience will set you back £490.  It does come with chocolates and champagne though if that helps justify the cost!

Choose somewhere sentimental

If you both have somewhere you have shared lovely memories, why not choose that as the place to propose.  It could be the place you first met or where you shared your first kiss.  Somewhere that really means something to you both.  It would be hard for anyone to feel disappointed if you picked a location from the heart!

Hire a Specialist

Yes, believe it or not there are companies that specialize in romantic proposals.  They will use their creativity to come up with a bespoke proposal just for you!  If money isn’t an issue, they can ensure the location and the entire proposal is truly inspirational!  I guess this could go one of two ways I would like to think my husband to be had come up with his own idea. Yet a dream proposal put together by a talented team sounds tempting too!
