How to change your mindset?

Do you sometimes feel like something is holding you back? Perhaps it is stopping you from reaching your full potential? I feel like that with blogging sometimes.  I think everyone else is doing a better job than me and I start to question myself.  My mind floods with self-doubt.  It’s so silly really.  I fail to see all the amazing things I have achieved when I am in that mood.  The reality is I am as good as the next person.  It’s all just about making a change to your mindset.

Do you sometimes have negative thoughts at the back of your head making you question your abilities and strengths?  One way to work on your personal development is undertaking certified NLP training.  Then you can learn how to turnaround your mindset and become much more positive in your day to day life.

Look for Good in Everyday

Firstly, you need to develop the skills to interrupt the negative thoughts.  Then you should attempt to visualise something positive.  In our house I am always telling the boys we need to bounce back like Tigger.  I want them to have the skills to be more upbeat about things.  It’s so easy to focus on the negative parts of your day and forget all the incredible things you have seen and done.  If the boys come home and school hasn’t been great.  I try and get them to list a few of the better parts of their day.

Give Negative Thoughts Less Power

change your mindset

Another thing NLP training can do is show you how to reduce the intensity of negative thoughts.  So, if you haven’t managed to interrupt them you can instead give them less power.  Keep busy so you don’t dwell on that negative thought.  Think about replacement thoughts you want to substitute for the negative one.

Be Aware of Your Triggers

You might find certain triggers bring on negative thoughts.  Try to identify these so you are better prepared.  If something makes you nervous or anxious think instead of the good things associated with it.

Control Your Breathing

Learn to breathe and relax when you are in a negative mindset.  Try and calm down by focusing on your breathing.  When you feel better its easier to think more positively.

Use an Anchor

When you have learnt to successfully immerse yourself in a positive feeling, many people will utilise an anchor so they can create that feeling on demand.  It could be a word you say to yourself and it can be an effective technique that does change your mindset.

Hopefully by adopting NLP principles in your life you will feel happier and more in control of your emotions.
