Win Maki Stack Game
Maki Stack is such a fun game. It’s not complicated either. You can dive straight into the game with just a cursory glance at the short instructions for setting up and playing the game. You have two sets of sushi (Cucumber Roll, California roll and Fish Roe Roll) and soy sauce that you then try and stack quicker than the other team!
It’s a lot harder than it sounds because there are two game modes. There is MASK mode, where you end up stacking with a mask on. Your team member needs to be very descriptive about the pieces, so you know how to build the stack correctly. If you are describing, you can feel under pressure as you see how well the other team are doing!
The other mode is CHOPSTICK. This is where you try and work with your team member to stack items only using only one finger each. It’s quite slow moving the pieces like this. But you do get better with practice. Just take your time and build up the stack carefully! If you rush it tends to all come tumbling down or you might mess up the positioning.
When you have successfully finished your challenge you shout Maki Stack! Don’t use the sushi mat if its not shown on the card either! Winning is about speed AND accuracy! Sorry guys you didn’t win that card after all!
The first person to get 6 challenge cards is the winner. It can be such a close game; you think you’re going to get the card but then you misjudge the position of your next piece, your stack falls over and you have to start all over again! This gives the other team a chance to quickly finish their stack.
The set feels good quality for the price, and I like how you can play a few different variants. If you are feeling confident you can make a player wear the mask each time regardless of what it says on the card.
