Why The Skoda Octavia is A Great Family Car?

We bought our Skoda Octavia brand-new five years ago.  After we had spent considerable time researching on the Euro NCAP site, we just knew it was the car we wanted.  We were looking for a car that ranked highly for adult and child occupant safety.

Child Safety

Some cars had very high adult safety but scored a lot less favourably for child safety.  But our biggest priority is our children, so we wanted a car that would tick all the boxes.  The Skoda Octavia gets a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests so that gave us lots of reassurance.  We tend to spend a lot of time travelling to various blog events and attractions during the year so investing in a safe car was important.

We plan to keep this car running as long as possible.  Fortunately with spare parts for the car brand Skoda available here www.euspares.co.uk it shouldn’t be an issue.  I really hope we have another 5 years at least with this car.  As Skoda is such a popular car manufacturer these days, I don’t see there ever being a problem getting spare parts.

Back when I turned 18, I was offered my first car as a birthday present from my parents.  We looked at a Skoda model (I can’t remember which in particular), but we are going back 23 years and the car didn’t have power steering and was heavy to handle.  I settled for a hi-fi instead.  But these days Skoda cars are a real pleasure to own.  The company sold 1.25 million units in 2018 and I am sure that number will continue to grow with their fantastic reputation and consistent highly rated safety results.

Crew Protection Assistant Package

As it was a brand-new car, we had more flexibility at manufacture which helped us choose the safest car.  We wanted the Crew Protection Assistant package so we would have rear airbags to further increase the safety for our precious passengers at the back of the car.  The salesman said it is very rare that people opt to have them.  It means we are unlikely to get a second-hand Octavia down the line with rear air bags.  That is my main reason for wanting this car to last.  We really can’t justify buying a brand-new car again and it looks unlikely we will have the safety measures we want otherwise.

Family Car Of The Year

If you are after a family car, I would recommend the bestselling Skoda Octavia based on our own experiences.  Plus, it has won family car of the year in the What Car? Awards in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019.  Quite impressive really!  It also reinforces the fact we made the right choice even if it was an expensive investment.  Which is kind of a relief really as I am one of those people who keeps questioning her purchases.
