Week 18 of 2020
I can’t quite believe its now week 18 of 2020 and we are in May! We finally managed to mount the rest of the artwork from our painting session last week. Then we all had a photo by our neighbours’ easel. Just so we could pretend we knew what we were doing.
This week we surprised the boys with a trampoline. I am trying my best to find fun ways to keep the boys happy. We had been looking out for one for a while, but they always seemed to be out of stock! I think week 1 of lockdown there must have been a HUGE surge in trampoline sales. Forget toilet roll, it has been a trampoline (hair dye and kidney beans!) I have been struggling to purchase! What have you found tricky to get hold of?
Trampoline Building (not for the faint hearted!)
What hubbie and I had not factored on was the fact the trampoline would take forever to build! We invested a day of our lives to complete project trampoline! We were outside from 10am to 5pm only stopping briefly for lunch! At one point we managed to get the trampoline net inside out and almost filed for divorce. But we persevered with gritty determination to get it sorted. Thankfully, we remain happily married. I had a glass of wine to celebrate after.
Bake Off
I mentioned in last week’s lockdown update that we have lovely neighbours who like to organise things to keep our spirits buoyed. This week we pulled off a bake-off event! There was a delicious spread of appetising treats on offer. My hubbie was responsible for the chocolate cake with lots of m&m’s! It was very colourful.
My boys really wanted to have a go at being judges and the neighbours kindly allowed them the honour. So, I printed off a certificate and bought a bottle of wine they could present to the winner (from a distance). We also had a couple of smaller prizes for runner ups. Everyone had put in so much effort it was a shame we could not have had more winners. We might be planning a clay modelling session next. I will keep you posted if we do.
Rock Painting
We have been doing some more rock painting. This is one of my husband’s that he did recently. The shape of the rock inspired him to do a fox. I really like it.
We have not got many pictures of us out and about this week on walks as we spent more time waiting in for the trampoline to be delivered. I will try and take more next week and venture further afield (on foot naturally!). Time seems to fly by though, home-schooling is continuing, a little bit here and there. It gives our days structure. The primary school gave out free codes for an online parenting course, so I am giving it a whirl. I told the boys see I have homework too, so it would encourage them to finish their deadlines.
Trampoline building is no fun. Ours is too small for ours now and I really want to get a new one, but with our current work situation being so dire, we cannot afford to replace it. You certainly deserved a glass of wine
Ohh! I bet the boys love the trampoline. My two keep asking for one but I keep saying no. It would take over half of the garden. It sounds like you earned the glass of wine after putting it up. hehehe
Your neighbourhood sounds like such a fun place to live. The cakes and treats look delicious.

You have had the most amazing week and I so want to move down there! Your neighbours are all so lovely and it’s fab how you are all coming together as a community to pass the time… and you are getting to know each other better too!
Your artwork was so gorgeous, love greens and blues together! As for the trampoline… I think you deserved cake as well as wine at the end of putting that together! Here’s to another awesome week… let’s rock this! 🙂 Sim x
We once put together a small trampoline and even that was a nightmare…..would dread having to do a big one! Well done on getting it done!
The cakes look amazing!
we have assembled a few things that have nearly caused a divorce as well. I remember a small metal storage unit that looked like the sides came assembled………..they did not………..12 hrs and much yelling and swearing from hubby it was done…..at that point we were doubtful it would go out the back door, as we assembled it in the kitchen, but it did, just thank fully

Wow, that’s a big trampoline ! I hope they love it, after all the hassle of putting it up. I never realised they took so long to put up either ! Love the fox rock and the cakes look great. Love the sound of your neighbourhood 🙂
Well done on building the trampoline! We built one about 12 years ago and funnily enough we never did it again, it was hard work! Those cakes look amazing and I love the little fox rock.
We put our trampoline together last year, and I have to say, I swore a lot. It was hard. Worth it but :O

I love the cover page of your blog. That’s a lovely painting. The only thing we found tricky to get a hold of is Dettol. I froze for a moment when I read ‘divorce’ 😛 Congrats on building the trampoline. Wow, I want to taste everything in the bake-off! Cute fox rock
