Week 14 of 2021: Returning To Geocaching
I don’t really have much to say this week. Partly I think it is because I have stopped eating cakes and chocolate. I can’t use my favourite go to pictures of tasty treats which help me have something to write about. It’s been a shock to my system going cold turkey again. Also, we just haven’t been up to much either. So, for that reason I insisted we went for a long walk today. I was in a position where I didn’t have much photo content from the whole week, so I needed to remedy that! It was nice to return to geocaching and we managed to see the cutest little Vole. I did try and take a picture, but it was too blurry. On the plus side I did manage to complete my 10k steps!
Book Recommendation

I had seen two recommendations for books that are meant to really capture your attention and keep you wanting to read more in a Facebook lockdown group. One of them you can see in the photo above. The other book was called The Family Upstairs, but I do think I did prefer The Silent Patient. I was completely clueless until right near the end! I have been finding a bit more time to read lately and its nice and relaxing.
The Weather

It’s been a strange week weather-wise, glorious sunshine to sudden snow! I wish it would make up its mind. We had planned to have a picnic on our walk, but the weather was so dreadful we had to eat in the car. When the snow flurry settled we ventured out on our walk, it soon began to melt as the sun graced us with its presence again.

Blogging
I have a new giveaway live to win six pots of anti-bacterial slime which I think is a really clever idea! Children can sanitize their hands whilst they play. I also wrote a post about how Laundryheap can give you a helping hand with your laundry and dry cleaning. It can be such an asset having assistance with chores as they never seem to end! Although I might get to the end of the laundry pile with the boys back in school on Monday. The whole house could do with a proper deep clean and sort out. Although my lovely husband says I should reward myself with a lazy day as its been a tough few months in lockdown.
Geocaching
It’s been a while since we last went geocaching. Usually, I spend my walks finding painted rocks as you have probably noticed if you regularly follow my weekly update posts! But I felt like we needed a change. So, we signed up for a whole years access again because of that you will probably notice more geocaching mentions from now on.
However, all the geocaches boxes we ended up finding were empty apart from a logbook. I think perhaps that must be a precautionary measure because of COVID-19 as usually there are always some treasures to find. It didn’t dampen the fun even without something interesting to find in the cache.
We left some little toys so it should be more interesting for the next person. I remember when my youngest once found a whole set of lovely thimbles from geocaching. Even though it was quite awhile ago he still remembers that memory fondly.

It sounds like you had a great walk out. The geocoaching sounds like fun.
The weather has been crazy. At least it’s sunny here today, it’s still cold though. x
What a lovely post and a beautiful walk. Congratulations on achieving your 10k steps!
Well done, too, on going cold turkey on cakes and chocolate. I managed to give up chocolate but sugar is still calling me!
Hope you’re surviving without cake and treats. The first few days is always the hardest isn’t it. We’ve never done geocaching. There’s 3 on our land somewhere, so should try it maybe when we take the dogs for a walk.
It’s been so bitterly cold hasn’t it. I still need to try geocaching, the kids would love it. I think the only thing that puts me off trying is I would not know what to leave in the box, what sort of things do you put in?
The weather definitely has been a bit strange recently!! its like all 4 seasons in one go at times.
I keep meaning to give Geocaching a go.
The weather has certainly been a talking point hasn’t it, got to love April. I’ll make a note of that book, always on the look out for good ones #365
Lovely to get out for some geocaching although it’s a shame the boxes were empty. Sophie always enjoys finding little ‘treasures’ and swapping things in the boxes. We’ve been the same with the weather – going from glorious sunshine to snow although it didn’t settle here. #project365
I really want to try geocaching but I struggle to find my own keys most of the time, so not sure I will be successful. We have had a mixed bag of weather too
Lovely photos from your walks, but it does look like it was quite cold. I haven’t tried geocaching, but remember reading Cheryl and Elaine’s (?) posts from the previous years when they were very much into geocaching. Good luck with abstaining from chocolate, don’t think I could do it.
We went somewhere new for some geocaching, great to be out of the house! The slime sounds brilliant so off to read your post. #project365
We are new to geocaching and so far have only found empty ones it would be good to find some little treasures. Hope the cutting out of the sweet treats is going well.
The weather that week certainly was bizarre. I’ve been reading more recently and the more I try to cut down on sweet foods, the more I want to eat them
We have never tried geocaching. It might be something that Ethan likes now that he is older. The weather was really strange. At least the weathermen got it right #365
