Week 16 of 2021: Egg Drop Experiment
Another week ticked off. I can’t believe how close we are to May now. I am definitely enjoying the fairer weather. It has been glorious today. Although the highlight of our week was yesterday when my husband came up with the fun idea to do an egg drop experiment. The kids really enjoyed it.
Egg Drop Experiment
We had some recycling leftover (toilet rolls, cardboard etc) and a box of eggs that had passed their best before date. Rather than chuck the eggs in the food waste we threw them out of the window!!! We each made our own creation to give them safe passage to the floor.
We had four eggs in this egg drop experiment, Dizzy, Eggscalibur, Eggbert and Eggy Weggy. Only one survived the drop intact. It was my eldest son with Eggbert. I think he is the more scientific of the rest of us, so had figured out a better buffer for the drop. We might do the same next weekend but have a few more items to build our egg contraptions more ambitiously. Maybe plastic tubs, straws, craft sticks and elastic bands for starters. They really is no limit to what materials you can use.
Getting On Whilst Gaming
My youngest sat nicely for ages just listening to my eldest tell him all about a new game he was playing. It is lovely to see them both getting along. It really does need to be documented as it happens so infrequently! I need proof they can be nice to one another so I can hang onto those lovely memories when they are bickering. I took a picture of their back of their heads for my feature pic.
Blogging
I managed to get another giveaway live on my blog. This time it was a prize for the children, with a Nokular Kids Starter Set. My youngest really appreciated this kit. Here he is concentrating on filling the bird feeder. He liked finding a suitable spot for it in the garden.
He had nice new binoculars to spot birds with. Hopefully, we will have lots of birds coming to visit it soon. I also wrote on my blog about why gaming can be good for you. The reasons have certainly made me realize I definitely need to game more. I could do with a mood booster, a distraction from the thoughts going round in my head.
Other News
My eldest started his summer job with a trial shift. He arrived home thrilled having earnt some of his own money! It was lovely seeing him so enthusiastic. Plus, I am pleased he did such a good job of it and has been offered more shifts.
The egg drop experiment does sound like a lot of fun.
Ahh! I know how you feel with bickering kids. We really do have to cherish those rare moments when they get along.

Satisfying to hear other peoples kids have rare moments of actually get on lol. Our boys all did egg drops as school projects at some point, hubby became quite adept with his designs lol
Egg drops are so much fun. Loved the names. Well done to your eldest on his job. Sounds like it’s going well for him.
What a great idea for an experiment. We have had to do things like that on a team-building event and hard-boiled the egg first (so many didn’t) which unsurprisingly helped. That’s great about your eldest and his first job, exciting times for him.

The egg drop sounds very interesting and also lots of fun. Nice to see them playing together, we haven’t got to a fighting stage yet but I’m not sure my son would understand the concept yet. Yay for the excitement of a first job #365
