Naturally the more money you can save (on top of the money you make) means more profits all round. Your business energy bills might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of saving money. But it’s something that you have to pay!

Install Good Insulation 

It might be that your business premises (or your home if that’s where you work) already has good insulation. In which case you are already doing the right thing. However, it might be that your insulation is missing, that it is old, or that it is of poor quality. If this is the case, then although it will cost you money to put right, having good insulation in place will save you money in the long term. 

The better your insulation, the less you’ll need to spend on your heating bills. This is because you will lose a lot of the heat you’re putting into your building. Meaning you have to turn the thermostat up higher or have the heating on for longer. When your office is fully insulated, however, you won’t have to heat it for so long or at such a high temperature since the heat will be retained. This will save you money that you can then put towards more important things such as finding a great SEO company or employing a new member of staff. 

Turn Off Unused Equipment 

What happens when the last person leaves the office at the end of the day? Are all your computers, printers, and other office equipment turned off entirely? Or are they left on standby until the next day? If it’s the former, that’s excellent news. You are saving money on your energy bills (and it’s better for the environment). If it’s the latter, you’ll need to start implementing a new rule. Start switching everything off entirely because you’re wasting money right now. 

Even laptops and other machines built to be more energy efficient will still need to be turned off completely after use. This will save as much money as possible. Although they use less energy than less efficient items, they still cost something to run. Remember every penny saved is essential. 

Shop Around

If you’re not tied in to any kind of deal with your energy supplier, then you can shop around whenever you need to. If you find that your energy costs are getting higher as time goes by, find a company that offers the same service for less money (or better service for the same money). 

You can do this very quickly using online comparison sites. Remember, though; you might not be getting the whole market available to you on these sites, so you should check for other companies that haven’t been mentioned, just in case there is a great deal waiting for you with one of them. There are dozens of energy companies these days, so finding a better deal shouldn’t take too long and is always worth doing.
