3D Pen Benefits And Giveaway
3D Pens are helping children unleash their creativity in new ways. The 3D element really does bring their drawings to life in an exciting and innovative way.
I have teamed up with myFirst 3dPen to giveaway their 3D Pen starter kit (worth £49.00). This kit is ideal for children as it is safe to touch with low temperature filaments and no hot parts. It is very easy to use as it is completely wireless, so no annoying wires getting in the way of the design process. Plus, the drawing solidifies quickly so it’s not a messy process. Yes, lots of parents will be very relieved to hear that!
Developing Interests in Art & Technology
I have always been curious about these types of pens so was thrilled to be sent one to review. Pitched for children 5 to 13 this really will develop a love of the arts and even perhaps a future love of technology. 3D pens are after all a tentative first step into developing an interest in 3D printers.
Imaginative Process
What I love most about myFirst 3dPen is that it can develop children’s imagination as the new format helps with textures and patterns that really transform their artwork. The included user manual is ideal for inspiration, but children can also just explore their own ideas. There really is no limit to their creativity with a kit like this.
Pens and crayons suddenly seem a little lacklustre in comparison. I was going to say the only difference would be you can get scented pens, but a quick google reveals that scented filaments even exist too! Hopefully something that this brand will incorporate in the future.
Encouraging Children Off Screens
It’s good to find a device that really captures our children’s attention. I think these days it’s harder to do that. So many children are glued to consoles and tablets at such a young age we need inventive ways to help them explore other hobbies and interests.
Improving Valuable Skills
Being artistic at a young age develops lots of admirable qualities such as critical thinking and problem solving, such as how to get their design to stand on its own. So, a 3D pen really does go that step further with learning about architecture and also sculpture. Working with a 3D pen requires lots of focus too, which helps children attention span and concentration levels.
Very Kid-Friendly

The myFirst 3dPen filaments are made from kid-friendly PCL materials that they can handle as they tweak and build their designs. A lot of thought has been put into the development of this 3D so that it is safe and user friendly. The kit comes with 9 different colours so plenty of choice to express themselves artistically. You can buy more filaments separately, at a price of £18 per box. There are two choices warm or cold colours.
Simple To Use

The pen itself it very simple to use and comfortable to hold. Whether you want to change the colour of the filament or just knowing when the filament has warmed up and is ready to use with the helpful green indicator light, there is nothing complicated to learn. It really is such a clever bit of kit with endless design possibilities.
