Today we had the conversation about what the boys are planning for their future. I love listening to those when I grow up chats. You never know what your children will come out with when they are little. So its worth asking them lots of questions as they grow and writing down their answers. I am glad I can return to some of those conversations on my blog.

Youngest (aged 4): “I want to be a farmer”

Eldest (aged 5): “I want to be on TV”

Then some further thought “or a doctor or a race car driver”

“I know Eeny, meeny, miny, moe”

Imagine if we all based all our career choices on that counting rhyme! Maybe it should be that simple, rather than going through the rigmarole of career advisers advice and lengthy tests to determine your most suited job…

So I asked “What would you like to do on TV?”

“Be on Cartoon Network” he answered very seriously

I said “But your a real boy hunny not a cartoon!”

He sighed dramatically then replied “They are real boys that have been face painted and Darwin (off the Amazing World of Gumball) just has a sock on the back of his head!”

Hmmm… is there something I am missing?!? It did make me chuckle though. I haven’t looked at Darwin quite the same since. My son must thing the actor is wearing a lot of face paint or something!

His career choices have changed since then. He went through quite a long stage of wanting to be a pilot but I guess time will tell. I think he does now realize the difference about cartoons now though!
