Millets Dogs Meet Summer

I always look forward to walking our dog Summer.  She goes crazy when she sees I am getting her lead out of the cupboard.  Her tail wags ten to a dozen and I would swear she smiles brightly at me. A walk is something she really enjoys, and I like keeping her happy!  I couldn’t wait to get involved in the millets dogs campaign.

We are blessed living in Wales it’s so green and beautiful.  There is never a shortage of scenic walks for us to pick from, new scents for Summer to sniff and exciting paths to explore. I get cabin fever if I spend too much time indoors.  Having a dog is a great way to keep fit and healthy. It forces you to lead a better lifestyle because once they have decided its walkies time it’s tough ignoring them! Summer has learnt to cry to get what she wants…

The boys however sometimes grumble about being encouraged to get fresh air.  But once outdoors they often start an adventure of their own. Sometimes we go geocaching to keep things interesting. If we are wrapped up warm wearing suitable clothing to keep out the wind and the rain, then it’s wonderful being outside and we always feel better for it.

The right jacket for walks

I really liked my Peter Storm women’s jacket the vibrant colour really makes it stand out and fortunately its waterproof.  An essential for walking in Wales!  You can adjust the waist so it’s more fitted, but I quite like it how it is, such a comfortable coat to wear. The inside of the coat is a lovely contrast with lots of stripes. You can get a little glimpse of those fabulous stripes in the hood in the picture below.  I went for a size 12 so I could layer up with a big jumper underneath to keep warm as the temperature drops. I can’t only be a fair-weather dog walker after all.  Come rain or shine Summer loves to stretch her legs, you can see all the raindrops on my jeans! But its worth it as Summer is so thankful, here she is giving me a kiss!  If your unsure where to start buying rain jackets read this helpful guide.

I finished off the outfit with a much-needed cosy winter hat complete with a large pom pom from the women’s accessories section. The jacket came with a hood, but my ears get so cold.  The Daisy Cable Knit Hat was ideal. Now I don’t need to cut short our time outdoors, I feel so snug I am not in as quite a rush to get back home to the central heating.
