I like finding toys that are a bit different, Wave Racers is quite revolutionary so perfect as a unique Christmas present. You start off the race by waving your hands around, something I haven’t seen before and we have reviewed lots of different racing tracks over the years.

I think it’s a good way for kids to burn off some energy with all that waving to go as fast and as far as possible.

The tracks are interesting with loop the loops and bends, you can also expand the tracks with other sets and make something quite impressive to race around! You can customise the track to your own design with all the pieces you own, it makes it quite a creative process.

The Epic Challenge set has an RRP of £29.99 and includes 70 track pieces, you can shop around and find it cheaper, Smyths Toys has some good deals at the moment.

The Super Helix Speedway (RRP £49.99) looks fantastic with lots of track (109 pieces) and you get two cars which is better. You can also pick up additional cars for £9.99 if your set only comes with one. I would recommend having a couple of cars in case you have any issues with the one you own.

If you don’t have a big budget for presents you can pick up the starter Wave Racers set for £19.99, Skyloop Rally has a full 360° vertical loop to complete, but you might find the 24 track pieces limit your race action! For us bigger is better, we want all our waving to be worthwhile and have ramps, loops and tight corners to navigate!
