First Utility found that 36% of those sampled would miss out on Christmas dinner in favour of broadband! Thanks to technology it is great we can stay in touch with family and friends.  Many of us live quite remotely from our nearest and dearest these days.  So it’s a way to reconnect and wish each over a Merry Christmas over the holidays.   Although I would say nothing gets in the way of my Christmas dinner.  I would choose to go without broadband if pushed. My blog probably wouldn’t be too happy with that decision.  But my stomach would be delighted! I could always make a phone call to family instead.

First Utility found that some use video calls to share a glass of wine together, open presents together or even tuck into Christmas dinner at the same time in different locations! It’s amazing really, how much closer technology can make you feel as a family.  We try and skype with the grandparents every Christmas the boys so look forward to it, although we are yet to open presents or eat at the same time! I find it hard knowing what to say at the best of times trying to have a conversation whilst eating a mouthful of turkey would make it even more challenging…

I do think nanny would like to see the boys with their presents though.  Most definitely I will have to get the hang of Skype when my two have children. I will want to see everything as it happens.  I will be the mother in law all daughter in laws probably find overbearing. Note to self: try and find a happy middle ground to keep everyone happy.

The family we Skype are all in the UK.  We don’t have that worry about scheduling it otherwise it might be a lot harder. Personally, Elf is a firm favourite here.  Will Ferrell is hilarious in his role of Buddy and the film never fails to get us into the festive mood. I wish he could come here and fill our house with paper snowflakes and pour maple syrup on everything.
