Saying goodbye to Primary School
Tomorrow my eldest finishes primary school. I really can’t believe such a milestone has come around so quickly! Only one more short day and then its over and done with, sob cry!
Looking back at pictures he seems so tiny when he started. I don’t know how I feel about it all. He is growing up too fast. It’s a time for hanging out with his mates and his mum being so very uncool these days. I am actually ranked the uncoolest person in the family apparently!
I do feel a little emotional as he has enjoyed his time at the school. He seems to have got on well with his teachers and been happy there. He has felt a bit nostalgic himself, returning to one of his old classes and remembering how much he enjoyed it. But he is ready for new challenges and subject material. Thankfully he has made some new friends on his transition days to secondary school ready for starting in September. Plus, he has a solid group of friends already, they have their moments, but I know they care about each other really.
It’s been an exciting year with a school trip to Cardiff staying away from home for two nights! Such a fabulous trip they saw so many sights. I was surprised by just how much they crammed into a short stay.
Primary School Leavers Prom
Then very recently he had his leavers prom. Gosh how that pulls at your heartstrings, he looked very handsome, suits are his thing! My eldest enjoys watching The Apprentice so understands the importance of being suited and booted from that I think! He said he felt like he was off on a job interview. I guess the stakes were as high as he wanted to impress his girlfriend. He requested flowers for his date, she seemed so pleased with them. His girlfriend is a lovely girl, its all very sweet and innocent. Young love is such a beautiful thing.
I helped set up for the prom and was amazed with how fabulous the hall looked afterwards. Plastic seats transformed with covers and bows. They had a chocolate fountain and cocktail umbrellas for their drinks. There was a disco so they could burn off some energy! Although it was all happening the same time as the England game so everyone got a little sidetracked by that too.
I never had a prom until university so its wonderful that my son gets to experience the magic of one much sooner!
All the children looked amazing! The girls especially as they had their makeup, hair and nails all done! Our prom routine was a little easier, bath, aftershave (minus the shave!) and quick comb of hair!
