Nowadays, kids don’t really want to go outside because of all of the great things that they have inside. Why would they want to play on the same boring swing set when they could be watching a TV or playing a video game. This, unfortunately, is a problem that many parents face, and it can be quite difficult to get your kids to go outside. This is why we have put together some tips on how you can get your kids outdoors.
Have Dinner Outside
Our first idea is relatively easy to achieve, so it is definitely a good place to start. Many parents struggle with getting their kids to eat and sit at the table with the family. A good way around this is to take dinner outside. Think about having a picnic or a barbecue or simply using an outdoor table. Your kids will love this change and it will get them outside in the fresh air.
Another great way to get your kids outdoors is to plan a family kayaking trip. You don’t need to worry about your kids being alone as there are plenty of tandem kayaks available so that you can paddle together. Kayaking is fun, and it will teach your kids more about nature as they see it up close. You could try here for more info if you think that kayaking could work for your family.
Walk To School
Do you live in close enough proximity to your kids’ school that you could walk there? This is maybe something which you should start doing if you want to get your kids outdoors. Leave the car at home and walk your kids there and meet them when they are finished – you’ll get some exercise while you’re at it! If they are old enough to walk alone then encourage them to do this.
Organise A Treasure Hunt
Many people only hide things in their garden at Easter but a good way of getting your kids out of the house and away from their devices is to organise a treasure hunt. You could come up with some clues and scatter them throughout the garden. At the end, you should have a prize for whoever gets there first, but make sure to have a runner up prize so that no one feels left out!
If you have a few bicycles in your shed, then it is time to take them out and go on a family cycle. Although your kids might not seem keen at first, you could plan the route so that it ends up at their favourite restaurant or place to play. They will soon start to enjoy it more and are more likely to go outdoors.
