My boys are getting older and what they would happily wear when they were younger, they now turn their noses up at.  My boys fashion tastes are changing.  They want to have a few designer labels like their friends and less cutesy designs.  I used to oversee their wardrobes without issue.  They never grumbled or complained just wore what I picked out.  Now they have strong opinions about what they wear and what they won’t!  But its all good as letting children choose their own clothes is a form of self-expression that they need.

Let Children Pick Out What They Wear

Children need to develop their own tastes in fashion.  Let them be involved in the process of buying clothes.  They know what they need to wear to fit in.  As hard as it is to admit secondary school can be a tough place, its important children wear what they know suits their environment.  My choices now are probably quite dated!  I am 40 tomorrow so what do I know about what’s cool when you’re a tween.  I guess all of this is part and parcel of them growing up and being individuals.

Dressing Smartly For Christmas

The boys want to dress smartly this Christmas.  I was looking at OD’s Designer Clothing to see what I could find.  They have lots of choice if you have an occasion you need to dress up for.  This Christmas we really have something to celebrate as my mum is home from hospital and had the all clear!  I really want to go to town on the festivity and make a big effort.

Moving Towards Designer Labels

I was looking at Hugo Boss Kids as I quite like that brand.  Even if its not something for the day itself it gives me ideas for presents.  I struggled picking gifts for the boys this year, I felt like I was buying for the sake of padding out their piles.  But next year I think I will spend more on clothes for them.  Their tastes are more expensive, so it makes sense to cope with the costs by spending more at Christmas on clothes.  Rather than giving them other presents and still having to fund their wardrobes throughout the year!  I have given a couple of suggestions I like below.  But I suppose I better check they are acceptable with the boys before I spend that much!

Do you let your children make their own fashion choices? I remember an interesting fancy dress combination my eldest enjoyed when he was younger!  Fortunately he seems to appreciate less is more now and doesn’t want to wear everything at the same time!
