3 Ways You Can Get Out of the House with Your Kid This Summer

The summer break is almost here and everyone is looking for ideas for getting out of the house with their kids. While there are so many options, often the best way to decide what to do is to put on your ankle boots and just start walking! Getting out of the house lifts everyone’s spirits, keeps your house clean, and gives your kids the opportunity to develop relationships that they wouldn’t normally while they’re in school.

There are so many reasons why its important to let children play outside.  You might remember my earlier post saying how it can reduce stress and improve their attention span.  I always feel terrible when I am cooped up all day!  The kids and I need to burn off some energy and get out of the house.

Here are three fun and economical ways to get out of the house this summer.

Just get out of the house and start walking in your neighborhood

Getting out with your kids and moving your body lifts everyone’s mood and it’s a great way to get some exercise. Fresh air, exercise, and burning some energy off is a great way to kill time in the summer. Just remember to bring some water to stay hydrated and sun cream if its sunny!

Walk to your neighborhood park

Getting out with your kids and getting to a city park with a playground is a great way to get to know other families. It’s also a great way to be able to relax while your kids are playing with their buddies! A fenced-in park is our go-to so that the kids are contained.

Walk around the farmer’s market

Going to a farmer’s market with kids is so fun! They’re excited to be seeing new stuff and the casual feel is perfect for being there with your kids. The education of seeing where seasonal food comes from is one that cannot be beat. Talking to the person who grew the corn that you’re going to eat for dinner later has a powerful impact on kids!

These are just three ideas to get you out of the house with your kids this summer. Tell me – where do you like to go with your kids?
