Should I buy a Fitbit?

A Fitbit is something I have been quite eager to buy.  It’s quite a fancy gadget recording your steps, exercise and sleep!  I think it would help keep me motivated on my fitness journey.  Recently I feel like I have reached a bit of a low point, so I need something to spur me on again!

It’s been hard cutting back on crisps, chocolate and cake.  I have noticed that I have lost weight.  Although now I could do with increasing the exercise I do and toning up a bit.  Although I know that a fancy gadget alone won’t magically make me slim!  I will still need to put the hard work and effort in!  I just feel getting some statistics on my progress would be quite enlightening!

For awhile I had gym membership and I regularly attended until life got in the way!  Then I wasn’t getting there often enough, and I cancelled after feeling it was a waste of money.  One of my most favourite things about the gym was the machine that give me stats on my progress.  Things like my fat levels.  I got a huge kick out of improving my figures.  I really miss that machine.  It was a bit of a driving force for me.  When I was feeling tired and unenthusiastic, I would think about improving my stats instead!  It did help give me the drive I needed.

Tracking My Fitness Levels

So, a Fitbit could provide me with so much information, giving me the updates I crave.  Whilst I take control of my own exercise regime.  My husband and I could do a workout DVD at home or take the kids out for a jog!  I wouldn’t need a gym membership to lead a more active lifestyle.  What I do need though is a gadget to let me know how I am doing.

Depending on the model you buy some are more sophisticated than others.  If you know your heart rate you can quickly see if you are putting enough into your workout!  I know sometimes I can be a bit half-hearted when it comes to exercise.  But with a Fitbit I would want to get my heart rate up so I can burn fat!  It would make me work harder.

The Cost

So far, the cost of a Fitbit has put me off buying one.  They seem quite pricey.  But looking on Latest Deals it seems you can get a few good savings.  Certain models have a good discount available.  But even when you factor in your getting a good buy, you need to know you will wear it once it arrives.  Not everyone wants a watch on all the time and to get proper updates you must commit to wearing your Fitbit constantly!  Unless you are charging it or having a bath!

Newfound Motivation

When you reach your steps total it is a cause for celebration for Fitbit owners everywhere!  Tracking how you are doing means your more likely to quickly get in some more steps to make sure you keep reaching your total.  Plus, if you join the Fitbit community you can find like minded people to chat about your fitness.

I think I have convinced myself that a Fitbit purchase would be a good idea!  Do any of you own one and how do you get on with it?
