I absolutely loved organizing birthday parties when my boys were younger.  Sorting out the party bags was one of the biggest highlights!  I always enjoyed browsing party supplies and seeing what goodies I could add to them.

I wanted to make them as fun and as exciting as possible.  Often, I would get a little bit carried away.  Well that’s what my husband would think anyway and most likely my bank manager too!

My Take On Party Bags

The party bag stage doesn’t last forever kids grow up and it kind of stops.  They tend to have just a few friends over for a sleepover or a day out somewhere, so it’s nice to embrace it whilst you can!  I miss those evenings I spent surrounded with bubbles, tiny colouring books, colourful bouncy balls and packs of sweets making up party bags for all the invited kids.  Seeing their delighted faces always gave me a real kick!

I always thought the party bags gave a lasting impression of the party!  For it to be a proper success I wanted them to be quite memorable.  I would budget about £5 a party bag and could usually get a few nice bits for that.  We did get compliments about the party bags which was lovely.  I don’t want them just with cheap tat that will be thrown away.  If you are going to the effort to make up party bags its good to put some thought into the contents.

Party Bag Ideas

From the Card and Party Store toy section I have seen Bubble Magic.  This promises long lasting colourful bubbles!  Now that would be an unforgettable add to the party bag!  Why settle for a normal pack of bubbles when they can be colourful instead.  They also have touchable bubbles these the boys have had in their Christmas stockings.  You can let the bubbles land on you which makes playing with bubbles more exciting!

Moody Faces are another firm favourite.  I remember having something similar as a kid.  I love how you can mould them in your hand.  It’s quite therapeutic, especially after a stressful party!  So, make sure you order an extra one to relax with afterwards.  They are cheaper than wine.

Whoopee cushions are usually quite reasonable, plus they always appealed to my boys’ humour!  My kids can continue to enjoy (or wind you up with!) for a long time after the party.
