Best Nail Designs for Autumn

The kids are back at school and you might finally have some time for yourself!  If you have neglected your beauty regime over the holidays these nail designs might inspire you to get started again.

I really have overlooked my nails this holiday.  Well apart from the odd occasion when my friend’s daughter eagerly gave me a manicure!  Although she is nine and the results can vary widely.  You can’t fault her enthusiasm though and her skill is increasing.

It’s that cold you might feel like bringing out the layers!  But your nails can still cause an impact before you wrap them away in your winter gloves.  So read on if you want some Autumn nail design ideas.

Autumnal Colours

You can focus your nail art on autumnal colours like plum purples, red, gold, yellow and brown.  Think about the beautiful colour of the leaves as they fall from the trees.  That is a good starting point to guide you and you can keep it simple using just those colours.  If you want more ideas read this Cosmopolitan article which suggests 11 nail colours you need in your life this autumn.  Some of them I hadn’t even considered like grey.  Alternatively, you can add a nail transfer or stencil over the top!

Nail Art

There are some lovely nail transfer designs out there for this time of year.  Ones that include fall leaves and acorns.  Alternatively buy a stencil and it will last longer, popular in Autumn are scattered leaves or pumpkins.  Adding art to your nails makes more of an impression than nail colour alone.  If you don’t have a steady hand, they are the easiest option too.  However, there are lots of online tutorials if you are feeling confident and think you’re up to going freehand.  Then you know you have something unique, especially if you start to experiment with your own ideas and themes.

Use Glitter

Autumn sees us celebrating Bonfire night so don’t feel like you can’t add extra sparkle to your nails.  Glitter isn’t reserved just for Christmas, so don’t be afraid to generously sprinkle!  You can pick up nail art kits that include nail glitter and create something dramatic.  Think about twinkling fireworks as your inspiration or just opt for a bold colour varnish and add glitter to the ends of your nails.

Glow In The Dark

If you have Halloween parties to attend look out for glow in the dark nail polish!  You can even opt for a varnish that has more spooky details like ghosts and bats.  I hate to see an occasion wasted so make sure your nails are as exciting as your costume!
