My husband turns forty in 2021 so we have started planning a special holiday for his birthday.  He was torn between Las Vegas and Canada.  So, I am researching both destinations to give him a clear idea about what to expect.  I have been to Las Vegas before so for me Canada is somewhere new and therefore the most appealing.  Personally, I would like to visit Vancouver as it would appeal to the parts of us that enjoy city breaks AND the outdoors.  2020 we are back to Florida so I will be ready for a change!

But as its down to my husband’s final choice I might have to make my research weigh more favourably to Canada!  There are so many things to do on Vancouver holidays I am sure it won’t be difficult persuading him.

Grouse Mountain

Although I am not ready for the skyride trip or peak chairlift, I would love to book Breakfast with the Bears and see Grinder and Coola exploring their habitat.  It would be so interesting learning about bear conservation!  It costs $166.00 for our family of four (on top of the mountain admission ticket) but you get breakfast thrown in!

Stanley Park

You wouldn’t expect to have so much greenery and beautiful views so close to the city!  This is where you will find Canada’s largest aquarium, a 400-hectare natural West Coast rainforest and the Seawall trails.  There are plenty of landmarks, sculptures and gardens, so you could easily spend a day here.  Bald eagles, bats, beavers, coyotes, raccoons and harbour seals are some of the wildlife you might also see on your visit.

Granville Island

This is a great place to shop and eat out.  There is a kid’s market with 25 stores just for them, so they won’t get bored!  There is also a free water park with two slides and lots of fountains.  There is plenty of live entertainment and performances too, so you can stay late into the evening and soak up the atmosphere.

Queen Elizabeth Park

This is such a pretty park full of beautiful flowers, you might be lucky enough to see hummingbirds too!  You get fantastic views of the city as Queen Elizabeth Park is situated at the highest point in Vancouver.  There is tennis, lawn bowling and pitch & putt too, so plenty to keep you and the kids occupied.  Don’t leave before seeing the Dancing Waters fountain.

Science World

As we always travel with our kids I try and pick out a balance of attractions to suit them.  Science World has lots of interactive displays for the kids to have fun with and learn.  Entrance is about $129 for our family of four including one OMNIMAX show.  But it looks like a great rainy-day attraction.  There are live shows, illusions, a chance to experiment with light and sound and opportunities to learn about sustainability and our bodies.

I don’t know about you guys, but I want to go to Canada more than ever before now!
