I have been blogging for around eight years.  But even after all that time I keep learning new things that can enhance the look of my blog!  If you are new to the blogging game, you can make your website look more polished and professional without having to spend!  It can feel hard wondering how you can compete with established blogs that have budget available for logo design.  However, it’s easy enough to make your own if you are feeling creative and have a little spare time to dedicate to the process.

Why is the logo so important?

A logo is a big part of your overall brand.  You want to create a lasting impression with visitors to your site, so it’s important to get it right.  Currently I have a cutesy koala family which I love and is very recognizable.  However, I think going forward now the kids are getting older it might be worthwhile trying a different angle.  I want to be more of a lifestyle blog and not just focused on parenting.  So, I feel a logo re-brand might be a sensible decision!  Whatever logo you have visitors will make assumptions based on what they think you are about.  You want to pick out a logo that closely reflects who you want to be.  I want something a bit more generic to open up more opportunities.

Where do you start?

I would say the first step is to have a look for Font Bundles there is a large collection available from Font Bundles.  It’s easy enough to download the font.  I am a bit of a technophobe and I still managed to figure it out.  Usually I call upon my husband to do anything like that, but I just extracted the file and installed the font without difficulty.  He is proud of me!

I was pleasantly surprised by how many fonts are free.  It seems very generous of the company to offer so many, especially when I paid for mine!  Once you have picked out a few fonts you like the look of you can pick up a free backdrop from a site like unsplash or pexels, then incorporate your text.  I probably need to invest in some better photo editing software.  But for now, I just had a quick play around in paint.  If you saw my first ever logo you will understand why I am so keen to spread the word about Font Bundles.

What You Need To Consider?

Your logo needs to be memorable and in keeping with the message you are hoping to portray.  It’s all part of your brand identity.  The blogging world has become more and more saturated!  To get noticed you need to try and standout from the crowd.  Any investment in your blog logo is time well spent.

The examples below were quite quickly drafted just to illustrate more than anything the lovely fonts available out there.

My first attempt I just wanted to try something pretty.

Then I tried a brighter colour!  But I think I have a thing for flowers at the moment.  Which is strange given how far from being green fingered I am!  I think I prefer the yellow backdrop and the font looks interesting but the g is a little bit like a q!

Back to the missing sleep theme was my feature picture at the very top!  But minus kids featuring, so that’s another possibility if I want to change tack.
