4 Ideas for Budget Friendly Family Fun

Enjoying quality time together as a family doesn’t have to involve spending a fortune. In fact, it’s quite easy to have a fun time together without blowing your budget or feeling as though you’ve had to cut corners and miss out. There are several ways your family can save money and still make new memories.

Here are just a few great ideas for planning more family time, and saving money while you do it.

Look for free activities and days out

Having the kids home over the holidays can often leave a lot of parents wondering how on earth they’re going to fill all those long days with them and keep them entertained. In this instance, a great port of call is your local park, museum or activity centre. Many of these will offer free family fun activities, such as play sessions, workshops or special tours. Getting stuck in with activities like crafting isn’t just a great way of spending some enjoyable time together, as it also helps kids come away with some useful skills and benefits.

Work on a project together

You’re never too old to learn something new.  To have some family fun try getting involved in a new challenge together is an excellent way of spending valuable family time. You might want to get together to learn about a new subject, such as embracing a new language if you’re planning a holiday somewhere soon, or work on a group project.

If you’re taking on a group project together, make sure that everyone, especially the kids, are invested and involved in it.  Feeling a sense of ownership and participation will make it much more rewarding and memorable, rather than being a tedious chore.

Discover new shows as a family

There are more and more options for great entertainment online these days, and it’s easy for every member of the family to disappear down a rabbit hole as they each watch their own favourites on their phones and tabletsHowever, taking advantage of offers such as Hulu deals can be a wonderful way of discovering new shows and features that you can watch and enjoy together. Keep it a joint activity by picking one or two shows as a group that you can all appreciate, while still allowing time for everyone to enjoy the things they like to watch on their own, too.

Get active

Getting active and spending more time doing physical things can be a helpful and rewarding step, and it’s a brilliant way of enjoying family time without having to spend a lot of money. Plus, it comes with a host of health benefits, whatever your age.

Simply going out for walks in the park as a family can boost everyone’s activity levels, as well as helping everyone step away from technological distractions for a short period. You might even want to invest in some simple games or activities that you can do as a family, such as a football kit for the garden, swimming gear and a family membership for the local pool, or virtual games that can be played indoors when the weather isn’t so welcoming.
