Underfloor heating is almost certainly something you’ve heard of even if you don’t have it in your own home. It’s been popping up more and more in the last ten years and it’s likely that in twenty years all homes will have it! Although many of us think it’s a modern invention, it’s actually be around since the Roman times and the whole concept of it hasn’t changed much! Ease to run

After all the disruption of installing under-floor heating, it needs virtually no maintenance to keep it running smoothly. The warmup controls ensure that your heating runs in the most profitable way possible. Perhaps the best feature is that you can decide when your heating comes on and off, meaning you can save on your heating expenses by having it off when you’re not in need of it.

Energy efficiency

Generally, underfloor heating requires less energy to run than traditional bulky radiators. This is because it only needs to run on a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius or less in order to warm up the room.  Therefore less energy used and lower bills for you.

Compatible with most flooring

The good news is that under-floor heating is able to operate with most flooring materials.  You don’t have to sacrifice your dream floor to accommodate this fantastic invention. However, before you set your heart on a certain flooring, make sure that it’s able to cope with this. For example, solid wood is not able to cope the differing temperatures, with it warping and shrinking under the heat. With solid wood being a popular choice, it can be disappointing to hear that out favourite choice isn’t compatible with this feature! Don’t worry if you have fallen for wood’s authentic charm and have or are looking to get under-floor heating, engineered wood is compatible with it, as well as other materials such as laminate and Luxury Vinyl Tiles. Both laminate and LVT come in very convincing imitations of real wood, that often it’s hard to tell them apart!

Safety and appearance

Safety might not be something that first comes to mind when it comes to heating.  But as radiators get older, like anything they wear out. Imagine this, you have a few old radiators in your home.  Next thing you know they start to leak and begin to look like they’re going to come off the wall. There’re no ugly, large radiators with sharp edges with under-floor heating or the danger of burning yourself on hot metal, it’s neatly tucked out of the way!

Of course, there’s probably many of you that want underfloor heating.  But the cost and disruption of having it installed is just too off putting. Even if you’re looking to purchase a new flooring, it is worth bearing in mind this feature as you may decide to install it a few years down the line.
