Week 19 of 2020: Lockdown Life
Here is another installment in our lockdown life. In my previous weeks post I had mentioned how we had not managed to get out much as we had been waiting in for the trampoline. Well week 19 was the week we made up for that!
Walking

We had a 12-mile walk and a 7-mile walk. Luckily, there is plenty of green space around us so we could keep isolated as our little family but still enjoy lots of fresh air and exercise. It did give my mental health a bit of a boost. I do always try and find ways to keep everyone upbeat and cheerful.
VE Day Celebrations

A local café was delivering afternoon tea for the VE day celebrations, so we ordered one each of those. It was a nice change having food delivered. It is not something that happens normally when you live rurally. The novelty certainly lifted our spirits. I think it was good for the café too, they thought they might only do 50 orders, but had 200+. I love how businesses are finding ways to adapt and continue in difficult circumstances.
We made some bunting, just colouring in paper. Sadly, our printer ran out of ink as we started printing bunting. All our neighbours were out in their gardens at the same time, so it felt quite sociable. We could wave to them over the wall and chat from a distance.
Takeout
The last fortnight more businesses are starting to open to serve takeaways, this makes me happy as it makes our lives feel “normal” again. We decided to treat the boys to one. My husband is still working hard at the doctor’s surgery, so he appreciated a break from cooking. I know I am at home so probably should have his meal ready! But my culinary talents are extremely limited. Plus, with all the snack provision and lunches I have had enough of the kitchen by the time evening comes round.
Rainbows

My mum had bought the boys and myself a rainbow each from the Dreamees site. The MDF artboard only cost £1.25 each then you can use your own colours (and stick on gems if you have them) to decorate it! The artboard does not look much to begin with but once coloured in they do make such beautiful centerpieces. Rainbows are all about hope during COVID-19 so its nice we have some of our own now. If you are looking for an inexpensive craft activity with your children these are still in stock on the Dreamees site and I would recommend them. It is handy my mum is into crafts as she always knows where to find the good deals. She has definitely made lockdown life more interesting. We have another craft activity arriving next week! Thank you mum.
Phone Calls
My phone calls with Simone from Sim’s Life have been keeping me sane. I spend a lot of time focusing on how my boys are getting on but have a habit of neglecting myself. Those chats always make me feel better. I have not seen my local friends in what feels like forever, so I had been missing socialising. But once Simone and I have put the world to rights and had a little moan we feel great and ready for another week of my lockdown life.
Now what to do to make next week fun for everyone.

Wow! They were epic walks. It’s good that you can get out and about. I know when we go for a walk I always feel better for it.
The afternoon tea sounds fab! What a great way to support a local business. It sounds like you had a lovely time. x
Our chats are definitely spurring me on too – thanks lovely lady! Always nice to hear your not so Welsh voice! 🙂 x
You have had such an awesome week, so jealous of those gorgeous walks you have been on! I need to get out and stretch my legs more than the short walks we are doing, but my favourite walking route is just far too busy at the moment. Wouldn’t mind finding somewhere off the radar to have a good hike!
So glad some takeaways have opened up again, nice to be able to take the night off cooking, though I need to go easy on the cake now 🙁 🙁 It was fun while it lasted! Here’s to another week! Sim x
Sounds like you had a lovely busy week, with some fabulous walks!
How wonderful you had a VE day afternoon tea. Nice to support the small business too.
We had a Domino’s pizza takeaway the other day, and it was such a great treat.
The rainbow from Dreemies looks like a lovely craft project.
Glad you had a nice chat with Simone.
I love Simslife blog posts, so lovely you have someone to chat with to keep you sane. Love the VE afternoon tea. I’m not a fan of takeaways and can’t recall the last time I had food delivered, would love it if my local cafe re opened for coffee deliveries, I’d be ordering daily
The afternoon tea looks great – I’ve heard of a few people having them, but getting one for VE day is perfect. I had fish and chips from the chippy the other night and it was such a treat not to have to plan, shop for or prepare a meal for once.
The VE Day afternoon tea sounds great – even better if it’s helping local businesses. It’s great that you can get takeaways too. Love the long walks – we’ve been limited to 1km away from home for the last couple of months, but now we can go 100km so we have more choice of where to go 🙂
It sounds like you’ve had a lovely week. A 12 mile walk is impressive! We’ve managed up to about five or six miles, but running is mainly our thing. I’m happy that we can now exercise more than once a day, so we can run and then go for a walk with the family later. The rainbows look lovely and it must have been so nice to have an afternoon tea delivered!
I’m impressed by how far you’re managing to walk. How lovely to get afternoon tea delivered to you for VE Day. I love that rainbow – hadn’t heard of Dreamees before but will have to check them out for craft items. #project366
Wow, they were epic walks. It’s good that you can get out and about. I know when we go for a walk I always feel better for it. We try to go in the evenings after work. The afternoon tea sounds fab x
Lovely pictures! Yeah its good that some businesses are doing well. Cute rainbow. Please do not neglect yourself
Love those rainbows!
So nice to have some lovely walks around your area. That is a long walk! Not sure my two would walk that far!
The afternoon tea sounds good.
I would love to walk further than we do at the moment, but I have two with little legs so can’t go too far. Love the rainbows, they are gorgeous. Glad your phonecalls are keeping you sane
