Week 18 of 2021: Lots more exercise
I have been keeping myself busy this week. The boys and my husband are big gamers, so I try to fill all my free time more productively. Rather than be at a loose end wondering what to do, I have been walking more. I have also got myself into a bit of a routine which includes doing 15 minutes on the rowing machine (the amount of time it takes to burn 150 calories), 50 sit ups and those all-important 10k steps a day! I love how exercise makes me feel more positive and upbeat.
The effort is paying off too as my visceral fat, the fat around my organs has gone down from 4 to 3! I am delighted about that. Although my metabolic age has gone up 1. Not so keen about that but you can’t win them all! I did have three weeks of not sleeping particularly well and I think that has impacted my metabolic age adversely. Feeling anxious affected my sleep, however this week I think I feel a bit better. I am finally feeling more rested again.
Cake With A Friend

Even though I am being a bit more careful about what I eat in between meals, I couldn’t resist a slice of chocolate cake with a friend! I am enjoying seeing more of my friends lately. I am quite a social creature and don’t cope well being cooped up in the house. Lockdown definitely had a lot to answer for in that respect.
A Week Of Two Takeaways
This week we have had not one but two takeaways. I feel a little guilty splashing the cash but my youngest had a good school report. He decided he wanted a Chinese as his treat to celebrate. Then on Friday we had a chicken kebab and pizza takeout because the boys all had kickboxing, and no-one felt inclined to cook after a proper workout.

New Nail Varnish
I treated myself to some gorgeous red nail varnish for my toes! I don’t normally bother but I thought why not. A bit of self-care is important right? I also dyed my hair on my own for the first time this week. Usually, my husband does it, but I didn’t want to bother him! Basically, I thought what’s the worst that can happen anyway! It actually looked pretty good! The roots were covered up and not too much collateral damage in the bathroom!
COVID Self-Test
I did my first COVID self-test this week. Yikes deep throating the swab was not fun at all, I just gagged and gagged! The nose swab was much more successful. I was COVID free but not sure I want to repeat the throat swab again anytime soon.
Board Games

I had a lovely early evening playing a couple of board games with my husband. I managed to win both at Scrabble and Azul. It was nice to do something different. Usually, we just watch TV, or he is gaming and I do get a bit bored at times. I think that’s why I am doing so much more exercise too just to pass the time.
Roast Dinner
Ended the week on a high with my mum’s roast chicken dinner!

Hope you have all had a fab week! Let’s home the weather starts improving again, I am fed up of the rain!

Well done with the weight loss and the exercise. I hardly exercise at all out in Dubai, too hot and no dog to walk. The takeaways sound good and a little bit of everything does no harm in the long run. The covid tests are much easier if someone does them for you and a top tip is to stand up for them, much easier to do
That cake looks lush as does your roast dinner. I’m dreading the time I need to do a test as I’ll gag before I’ve even started I think #365
I do the lateral flow tests twice a week as I work in a school but they get much easier once you get used to them! I am addicted to roast dinners at the moment and we’re having them twice a week! #project365
Good job with the walking and exercise. It sound like it is all paying off. A slice of cake with a friend is a great treat.
The kebab looks so good.
I am not good at doing my Covid tests either. I gag and then sneeze loads. lol x
Well done on getting into a routine with the exercise – I’ve been trying to do the same and feel so much better for it. Glad you are feeling more rested again now as well. Lovely to be able to see more of friends and that chocolate cake looks very yummy. Lovely to have a board game evening – Scrabble is one of my favourites but I rarely get to play it as my husband isn’t keen. Your mum’s roast dinner looks amazing. #project365
Ooh that cake looks pretty good! I wouldn’t have been able to resist a slice!
Great news the fat has gone down around your organs.
Well done on the exercise routine this is something I need to do, I really do not have any excuse at the moment. Although most of mine does tend to be in the garden. Well done on the good school report, sounds like a takeaway was in order. We do not play enough board games.
Well done on the exercise front. I need to get more motivated. I can never say no to cake. The covid tests are fun. I just do it up both sides of my nose like you can for children and SEN adults #365
