I am a big fan of Downton Abbey so was quite keen to find out more about Age Co. latest campaign. They have recreated the Downton Abbey library in different celebrity interior design styles.  I think my favourites are the Joe Wicks and Graham Norton versions.

Although I would be tempted to have the original Downton Abbey design too which you can see some of on the left! Just so I could be surrounded by so many books! It would be heavenly curling up on one of those sofas to read away the afternoon.

There are lots of different interior styles to pick from. Although my preferred choice has to be Scandinavian so that probably explains why I was drawn to Joe Wicks version most of all. Most likely because it is quite minimalistic, I don’t like too much fuss or clutter. Thought is put into the items that are out on display. They are chosen for a reason not just as space fillers or dust collectors! Generally Scandinavian homes are smaller so that might explain why they are so averse to clutter.

The style is modern but still aims to be inviting. It’s all about your interiors being functional, with a big focus on being warm and welcoming too. The cosy style is perfect for winter with emphasis on candles, rugs and cable knit blankets. We have a few Scandinavian style prints in our home already. I do like to keep my décor as minimalistic as possible. We also got a log burner installed as you can’t beat that cosy feeling of basking in the heat of the fire!

Which Brings Me On To Hygge

It’s all about that content feeling you have. Scandinavian interiors want you to feel happy and comfortable in your home. Embracing a warm atmosphere surrounded by belongings that really matter. I think its good that this interior style is so wrapped up with our own wellbeing. Lots of us have our down days so coming home to snuggle indoors surrounded by belongings we cherish can really lift our spirits.

How To Achieve A Scandinavian Interior Design

Scandinavian interiors can be easily achieved if you wanted to try them out for yourself. Just invest in good storage so you can hide all your clutter! Then paint your walls white, not only are they great for reflecting natural light they work well with the colour of natural wood.

Incorporating nature is a key component of Scandinavian interiors. Which might also explain why house plants are so popular, they do help connect the indoors with the outside.

Whatever colours you combine with the expanse of white need to be quite muted. Ideally sticking with the winter theme, grey and cream can work well.

Work on your textures, building them up with throws, cushions and blankets for added warmth and comfort. They love their faux fur too.

You can mix and match accessories, its more about keeping the colours similar than sticking to the same materials.
