Week 47: Manchester Christmas Markets And Lightopia
I have had the best week, the highlight being a trip to the Manchester Christmas markets with my good friend from Sim’s Life. It was lovely to visit her neck of the woods and it felt so festive as we even had snow whilst we were there.
Manchester Christmas Markets
We had the best time at the Christmas market. My boys loved their hot chocolates. I am so pleased with the limited edition Manchester Christmas markets mugs we have as a wonderful memento of a fantastic weekend!
Sim spoiled us with lots of treats including our mugs, she is an exceptionally generous friend. We chomped on Zara cakes and cookie pies.
I wish I could have squeezed in more as each stall had such tempting wares on display! Next year I want the apple strudel with custard!
We stopped off for lunch at Vapiano for pizza and pasta. Our meals were delicious.
My husband enjoyed trying moonshine! Think it helped warm him up trying out different alcohol samples from various stalls! It really was a bitterly cold weekend. I was a bit envious as I was on steroids for my asthma so not drinking myself. However, Sim bought me the fluffiest scarf, so I soon warmed up too!
Lightopia
After the Christmas market we headed to Lightopia which is a beautiful lantern and light festival in Heaton Park.
It was nice as a one off, however we probably wouldn’t repeat the experience as its quite pricey. Sim and I would probably prefer to have more spends for the Christmas market instead! We could get even more tasty treats and drinks.
Feeling Lucky Again
I mentioned in my last weekly update how I was having a bit of a dry spell with my competitions, well that all changed this week! I had a few smaller wins with a lovely soap, two ice scrapers and some ladies pruners. Then a selection of earrings from Mama Bear Crafts Co on Instagram which I was particularly pleased about, I can’t wait for them to arrive.
Plus, I had a year fiction book subscription from The Willoughby Book Club, which made me very happy too! The prize was worth £119.99! I love reading so can’t wait for a new book to arrive each month for me to enjoy.
I am feeling frustrated with Facebook this week, they continue to spam some of competition comments for no rhyme or reason. It seems a bit of a waste entering these competitions if it keeps happening. It’s not like I am writing anything controversial!
Donuts
We went back to Sim’s today before driving home and she surprised us with a box of Dunkin‘ Donuts! The Christmas pudding shaped one was so tasty!
Storms
Hope you all did okay with the bad weather! We had a shock walking to catch the tram into Manchester a tree had been completely uprooted and fencing destroyed! It looks like it only just missed the house.
Sounds like you had a lovely week. How wonderful to meet up with Sim and sample all those delicious drinks and foods. The hot chocolate and all the sweet treats look scrumptious. And big well done on your wins, the book subscription prize sounds amazing! OMG @ at that uprooted tree.
Fab weekend with Sim, such a great friend to treat you all like that and those donuts looks fab. Wow at that tree, didn’t see much damage here in Northern Ireland but did hear about a local teacher dying when a tree fell on his car, very sad news.
The Christmas markets sounds like a great day out. All of the food and drinks look amazing and those mugs are so cute. The light festival looks fab too.

What a lovely weekend, I do like a Christmas market and itching to try and find one locally to us now we are not travelling for the next couple of weeks. Yay for the wins, I really like the gummy bear earrings. And those doughnuts… must start getting the festive food in.
Those trees were mental, can’t believe the damage they caused – the people in the houses though, I would not have slept at all! :/
Awww it was a fantastic weekend and I am so glad you got to come to the markets with us and enjoy them! 🙂 They get bigger and better each year… there may even be more alcohol stalls next year! 😉 Definitely wouldn’t complain about more food stalls next year, I want to try everything, it all smelled so amazing, especially the burrito stall! 🙂 The cakes though… the cakes… all the treats!
