By making some mindful choices when it comes to our everyday life, including our home interior design, we can rest in the knowledge that we’re not further adding to the world’s problems. So, this means that options like high bay LED lights are the perfect eco-friendly option in terms of lighting and should be your first choice when getting bulbs for your home.

Solar technology enables you to get energy in one of the most environmentally friendly ways – it works by converting energy from the sun into power that you can then use in your home. Whilst solar panels can be a hefty investment initially if you plan on utilising them for years to come, they will eventually pay for themselves. As well, you can be safe in the knowledge that the energy you’re using is green and renewable. They’re definitely worth it if you’re going to put them to good use.

Insulation Over Heating

Your daily habits can impact how eco-friendly you are at home. As well as the design of your home. So, before immediately jumping for the thermostat the moment you feel a cold draft, think about ways that you can insulate your home properly. Methods such as using draft stoppers and making the most of thick curtains. Or generally improving the insulation throughout your home (consider updating your roof and flooring) can mean that your house doesn’t get so cold so easily.

Additionally, layering up in warm clothes before you turn the heating on, will mean that you’re saving money as well as energy in the long term. Always reach for the thick fluffy socks before you flick your heating switch!

It’s All in the Material

Renewable materials are becoming more and more easily accessible and commonplace. Materials such as wood, bamboo, cotton, wool and straw are always the better option over plastic that can take over 400 years to decompose. Renewable resources can be replenished after use, meaning they’re more easily recyclable and non-polluting. When you’re decorating your home, always keep this information in mind. Natural materials are always the better option!

If we all do our bit and put a tad more consideration into the actions we’re taking in our daily lives then it can benefit our wallet as well as the planet. It just makes sense.
