Questions To Ask Yourself If You’re Struggling To Lose Weight

Some people seem to lose weight very quickly. While others can be struggling to lose weight, even though they have started a new exercise routine or diet plan.

If you are struggling to lose weight, there could be a very good reason why. Ask yourself the following questions as they might give you the answer to your weight loss struggles.

#1: Am I eating enough protein?

There are lots of weight-loss meals on the market but if you still aren’t losing weight after adding these to your personal diet plan, it might be that you aren’t consuming enough protein.

Foods containing protein will help you feel full for longer, so you shouldn’t be tempted to eat unhealthy snack foods or overindulge in healthier foods throughout the day. This could be your first step to improving your chances of weight loss.

If you choose proteins which also include Omega-3 fats, you will improve your chances of losing weight as foods such as oily fish, walnuts, and flaxseeds can increase the feeling of being full while also burning stored body fats.

#2: Am I eating too little or too much?

Struggling To Lose Weight

If you still feel hungry after mealtime, it might be that you haven’t eaten enough. Many people eat less when trying to lose weight because they think that will help them in the long run. In fact, the opposite can be true. Our bodies need sufficient calories to function properly and when they don’t get enough of them, they go into ‘starvation mode’ which is a defence mechanism the body uses to prevent fat loss. Alternatively you might also be eating too much. You will know that eating too many sugary and fatty foods is bad for you but so is eating too many healthy foods, such as fruits and vegetables, as they could be the reason for your weight gain.

If you don’t feel full after eating, it might be because you have a bigger appetite because of sleep deprivation or you might have a medical condition that can cause you to feel hungry after eating. There are ways to control how much you eat, such as lap band surgery which increases the feeling of being full. This is one option you might need to consider but speak to your doctor to learn more.

#3: Am I drinking enough water?

Staying hydrated is important for good health so during the day, you should aim to drink around 1-2 litres of water.

Hitting the correct water quota can also help with weight loss as you will feel fuller between meals and have more energy to exercise during the day. You will also reduce the chances of getting cramps while working out so you will have less reason to quit your workout before you start to see and feel the benefits.

Finally

If you are struggling to lose weight, it might be because of the points we have raised. But there could be other reasons why you aren’t shedding pounds. Speak to a professional for advice, such as a medical expert, fitness instructor, or nutritionist as they will advise you on what you might need to do to improve your chances of weight loss.
