Week 35: Candle Making & Starting College
It was nice for my eldest to have his GCSE’s results out the way and his first two days of college induction ticked off. Tomorrow, he starts his lessons properly. Then hopefully we can all relax into a new routine. Especially as my youngest will be back in school too then.
Candle Making
This week I went to a candle making and wax melts session in the local community. It cost £10 and we made one candle and two packs of wax melts each. We also got an extra wax melt to decorate that had already been made (mine is below).

So, it was really good value for money. But also, it was something fun to try and do.
There were lots of different colours and fragrances available to pick from. I went for Cosy Cashmere & Winter Musk. I picked out that fragrance as it sounded perfect with the days starting to cool off! Although we seem to have gone straight into a heatwave now…

We also got to sprinkle glitter on our wax melts so make them all sparkly!
They are planning more sessions in the future, so I should have more pictures to share going forward. I quite liked the sound of making lip balms, so fingers crossed it gets scheduled on the activity list.
40th Birthday Celebration

My friend turned 40 this week. So, we went out for dinner to celebrate. His wife had organized a cake for him, and it was a thing of beauty! I didn’t manage to stay out very late, with the candle making the evening before, two nights out of the house in a row is quite a challenge these days! I like being in my pyjamas by 8pm ideally! Not very rock and roll am I!
Liquid Death
Last weekly update I spotted the Hot Nuts product, this week it was Liquid Death! Seriously, where are they getting these names from. I had to google it, apparently its so you can “murder your thirst”.

I am not sure I would be brave enough to drink it. If you have let me know how you get on (assuming you survive the experience!). Although it’s only some kind of drinking water product from the Alps. Even so I think I will stick to my Welsh water instead, just in case!
Lunch Out
We had an appointment out with my youngest so on the way back we went out for lunch. I had the most delicious chicken, leak and ham puff pastry pie, with chive mash and peas. My gravy came in a cute little saucepan, so big plus points for presentation too. You can admire my lunch in the feature photo.
Waffle

My weekly update wouldn’t be complete without a picture of a naughty treat! This week I had a waffle with Nutella, strawberries and cream. It was as good as it looked.
Metalwork

On one of our walks this week we spotted a beautiful metal rose. I wish our metal gate had such lovely features on it. We just went for a heavy metal farm gate, its practical but not very pretty. We don’t even live on a farm, it was just the cheapest option.

Good luck to your eldest at college. Mine has her first day today. I am more nervous than she is. I can’t wait to get back into a routine.
The candle making session sounds like fun and the wax melt is so pretty.
That Liquid Death drink doesn’t sound very appealing. I will just stick to tap water. lol x
Hope the start of college goes well. The candle and wax melt class sounds interesting. I’d quite like to try something like that. Our local arts centre does courses but they’re never at a good time or day.
Good luck at the college. It must be so exciting.
I love the look of that wax melt. The session sounds really good and indeed value for money. I tried some different crafts, like pottery and painting, but I would like to try candle making too.
That rose looks beautiful.
Hope college goes well for your eldest. The birthday cake looks fab as does the waffle. I love the wax melt decoration, sounds a fun activity to do.
I’d love to have a go at making candles and wax melts: will you try to do it at home in the future? The pie pic looks soooo good! #project365
The candle making and wax melts session sounds like fun – love your decorated wax melt – so pretty. Love your friend’s birthday cake. I’m not sure the name “Liquid Death” would make me want to drink something even if it was just water! That metal rose is so pretty. #project365
