4 Essential Reasons To Buy Pyjamas
Why Buy Pyjamas?
It is recommended we have between seven to nine hours sleep a night. But it can often feel difficult achieving that. For plenty of different reasons too, our sleep environment might not be quite right, our anxiety levels could be heightened, or our general health compromised. These factors can all weigh in. For me a big part of going to sleep quickly is down to my pyjamas, without them I feel exposed and vulnerable.
I totally appreciate that some people choose to sleep naked; whilst others like me prefer to buy pyjamas. So, I thought it would be useful to list four essential reasons to buy pyjamas seeing as I am such a BIG fan of them!
Signal For Bedtime
When you put on your pyjamas it lets you body know its time to get cozy and unwind. It is an important part of my bedtime routine. I just have to make sure when I buy pyjamas, they are comfortable and soft. Anything too tight or fabrics that are itchy or leave me too warm will stop me feeling relaxed.
Once in my pyjamas I feel I can forget about my troubles. Clock off from work worries and general life admin. When my pyjamas go on its all about time for me and I really do forget my stresses.
Regulate Your Temperature

It is a good idea to buy pyjamas that help you regulate your temperature, so you sleep better. If your too hot or too cold, it will be much harder to get a decent night’s sleep. It’s a good idea to put thought into the fabric of the pyjamas you buy as they have different priorities that can help.
For example, Womens silk pyjamas are breathable as they do not trap and hold moisture. Silk is a good fabric choice for pyjamas for these reasons. Cotton pyjamas are very soft and also breathable with sweat-wicking properties.
Regulating your temperature is essential, especially if you’re a woman of a certain age! Apparently drenching night sweats are all part and parcel of the menopause. Something I am not looking forward to at all.
Mens long sleeve pyjamas are beneficial in winter. If you feel cold, it can take you longer to go to sleep. The closer we get to bedtime our body temperature naturally drops a bit so combine that with a colder time of year, it makes sense to have longer length pyjamas for Autumn and Winter. For Summer and Spring its best to swap back to your short pyjamas.
If you feel really cold, then flannel pyjamas are your best bet. Adding wool to cotton makes it 30% warmer than regular cotton pyjamas.
Cleaner

It is easier to change your pyjamas frequently than your whole bedding. They recommend you change your bedding every two weeks. Whereas they recommend you change your pyjamas after three nights. So, your bedding will stay a lot fresher if you have clean pyjamas.
We shed skin and hair when we sleep, pyjamas can catch some of that and keep our bedding much cleaner. If you sleep naked you will probably need to wash your bedding more often! Dr Hana Patel recommends once a week if you choose to forsake pyjamas, because its not just skin and hair but saliva and faecal matter too!
