On Tuesday we headed to Telford to watch the Dinosaur World Live show.  My boys gave it rave reviews.  They really enjoyed it.  I was worried they might be too old when we first arrived and saw much younger children there.  But as it was the show had quite wide appeal!  Dinosaurs are always a popular choice with children after all!  Regardless of how old they are.

The dinosaurs were impressive, you tended to forget there were people operating them.  You could see the younger children completely mesmerized.  For them it all seemed so authentic!  It was very life like, with realistic sounds and movements.  The roaring at times was quite fierce and loud.  But all the little ones seemed so brave even when the giant T-Rex made his stage appearance!

The show is pitched for children 3+ and the cast held the attention of the audience for the whole 50 minutes.

The sound effects and interesting commentary from Miranda (played by Elizabeth Mary Williams) quickly set the scene and we soon felt like explorers on an exciting adventure.  There was lots of audience participation.  For example, encouraging everyone to call out if they saw the egg moving or scaring off the T-Rex.  A few lucky children even got the chance to go on stage.  The chosen few either brushed a dinosaur, fed it leaves or learnt to walk one nicely on a lead!

After the Dinosaur World Live show the boys had the opportunity to meet the dinosaurs, it was a bit hectic as naturally everyone was eager to get up close.  I thought the puppeteers did their best to get around everyone.  It’s a lovely opportunity getting a chance for all the children in the show to stroke a dinosaur not just the select few who made it on stage.  I liked that is very inclusive and it was a real highlight for my boys.

The venue The Big Top in Telford Town Park had a few seating issues which was rather unfortunate, but this was no fault of the show itself.  They venue hadn’t left enough room for those who were in the first row of fixed seating to sit comfortably!  It’s a good thing the show was so enjoyable as a lot of people quickly forgot their grumbles as they became so engrossed in the show.
