Concept Game Review and Giveaway
We first tried Concept when nanny and granddad were visiting as it meant we could have three teams of two players. My husband and eldest won that game. I really that that it’s a game more people can play. Lots of the ones we own are restricted to five at the most usually. Concept on the other hand can cater for 12+ players.
The game doesn’t take long to get the hang of. We started playing the easy words on the Concept cards. But we did get more confident as the game progressed. Then we felt like we could attempt some hard and challenging words. I was pleased with myself when I got one of the challenging words right! They really are much harder than the easy ones.
Basically, you use the board to give the other teams clues so they can correctly guess the concept you are trying to explain. If they get it right, they win two victory point tokens. The team who managed to describe the concept well enough for them to guess also gets one victory point token.
It gets a bit crazy and competitive, with lots of shouting out possible answers! We all liked how the game challenged our brains to make connections between the picture clues and the actual concept. It was the ideal game to give yourself a bit of a mental workout.
On the board you indicated the main concept such as animal/wildlife then you can use the provided cubes to give more information like the colour of the animal. All of this helps the guessing teams narrow down the answer. When the players get very close you can say yes so at least they know they are on the right path. This stops the game going on forever because the teams can then focus their guesses.
You can also add more cubes to a picture when you want to emphasize that more strongly such as lots of people instead of just one.
I would recommend this game for everyone in the family. We were a mixed group from 10 to 62 years old and we all had a fantastic time. Since then we have also played Concept with my parents who are in their seventies and it went down well with them too.
