You might think adapting your garden for your family would cost a small fortune.  But you can do little things to make the garden fun for them without spending a fortune.  Here are my tips for creating a family garden on a budget.

Rope Swing

Ropes Direct have inexpensive swings for your garden.  Rather than invest in expensive jungle gym equipment that children soon outgrow these are a fantastic option if you are on a budget!

You can buy wooden swings to hang from trees in your garden.  Such a bargain for under £30 for a rope and the seat!  Plus, swings seem to have quite long-lasting appeal!  Even kids in secondary school still use them.

DIY

If you are quite handy consider the do it yourself option.  Build a fort in your family garden with wooden pallets.  Many businesses have these available for free after deliveries.  Just make sure whatever you build is well and truly tested before you unleash your kids on it!

Mud Kitchen

A few pots and pans can keep children entertained for ages!  Ask family if they have any they plan on getting rid of instead of buying new ones.  Whenever you can make a saving go for it.  Children soon tire of things, so you don’t want to spend a fortune.

Bug Hotel

Again using wooden pallets create a bug hotel.  Once you have built the structure fill it with twigs, moss and bark.  Children will enjoy seeing what bugs move in!  It can be very educational.  Plus, it’s nice knowing your doing your bit for nature too.  Giving the woodlice and lady birds somewhere nice to live.

Bird Table

Children can help build a basic bird table; it doesn’t have to cost much.  They can then learn how to make suet cakes to feed the birds that visit.  Birds will appreciate the food in winter when there is less options for them to eat.  You are teaching your children to be kinder by considering wildlife and the struggles they have.
