Abominable Review and Giveaway
We enjoyed watching Abominable at the weekend. It’s such a lovely feel good family film. The main character Yi finds a yeti on her apartment roof and befriends it. It has managed to escape from a wealthy collector of rare animals. Initially it is quite suspicious of Yi but soon it learns to trust her.
Yi names the yeti Everest. She comforts him and brings food. She is always so busy working to distract herself from the grief of losing her father. But caring for the yeti gives her purpose.
CREDIT: Abominable is available on Digital on 3rd February and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray and DVD on 10th February, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
It’s quite sweet seeing their friendship develop. The journey that follows helps her deal with the heartache of losing her father and she begins to re-connect with her friends and family and find her enjoyment for playing the violin again.
It’s quite a magical adventure as they make their way to Mount Everest. You soon realize just how powerful a creature Everest is. He is only young himself and desperate to return to his own family. Luckily, he has a few tricks up his sleeve to help, like a giant dandelion as a form of transport!
All the while you have the collector Burnish hot on the pursuit for Everest. He has lots of resources at his disposal and is determined to catch the yeti. He wants to prove its existence to the very people who mocked him.
There are a few tense moments when you wonder how it will play out. But the ending was very sweet, and some people learn from their mistakes. Whilst others might meet an appropriate end – but I don’t want to say too much!
Abominable is from the same studio that brought us another firm favourite of mine, How to Train Your Dragon. One of my favourite parts was the whooping snakes, who are quite entertaining. They make the sound whilst moving their heads up and down!
Watching Abominable is a fun activity for half term. You can also try making your own steamed pork buns just like Nai Nai from the film. Watch the video to make the food Everest ended up enjoying so much!
