IDEAL Games Bundle Giveaway
We were sent a bundle of three IDEAL games to keep my boys entertained in lockdown! I was very grateful as these games have made the time spent as a family more entertaining. It can get a little tedious doing the same day on repeat. I feel like we are starring in our own Groundhog Day movie! Fortunately, board games can lift everyone’s spirits.
Our IDEAL games bundle included The Great Game of Britain (SSP £19.99), Shake Off (SSP £19.99) and Clock-It (SSP £24.99).
Shake Off Game
I think the boys were most amused by the Shake Off game. They were animatedly shaking about trying to get a higher score than each other! It’s a good little workout, children need to burn off some energy in lockdown and that game is the perfect way to do it!
The game includes a spinner which lets you know where you will wear the shake-o-meter (wrist, ankle, bum or waist). Then you get the option to jump, run, reach a target or go freestyle depending on where the spinner lands! I think free style was the boys preferred option, they were coming up with their own dance moves! It did make me chuckle watching them. I like how the Shake-o-meter is designed, its easy to keep track of the score. I had a game with my eldest and I was out of puff by the end of it. We both got quite competitive and were determined to get a high score.
I think a game of Shake Off is a good way to start the day before expecting them to settle down for a home-schooling session. They will be better able to focus when they have worked off some pent-up energy!
The Great Game of Britain
Not having as much energy to burn as the children this proved to be my favourite from the IDEAL games bundle. I really liked the game design. You might feel quietly confident you’re doing well and then you need to change track and get a hazard card whereby your game plan changes completely! For example, I was sent off to a remote part of the board on a skiing trip! I really liked how challenging the game was. I had thought I would win given my stations were all really close to each other, but once you need to change track then anything can happen!
The game is quite educational too, my eldest son was keen to read the descriptions of all the places of interest and learn more about them. Up to six can play this game, I think more players would make it even more exciting. Each player gets two tokens to use to close off stations, so more players means more station closures to try and navigate! When you reach a closed station, you can make the decision whether it’s worth finding another way around or trying your luck to roll a six to get past it.
Clock-It!
Clock-It! Is a fast-paced guessing game where you draw, mime or describe cards to the other players. With 80 playing cards there is plenty to keep the family busy here for a very long time. I really like the clever design with the clock being a key part of the game. It lights up to let you know which card you are doing and whether you will be drawing, miming or describing it. It’s best played indoors to see the icons light up properly. I think its good you can adjust the game mode (with the included little clock key!) so you can have a mixture of describing, drawing and miming or decide to focus on just one of those skills.
When the other players correctly guess you just tap the clock to see your next card number. Miming can teach children a lot about body language and the describing section of the game can help children learn to give more thorough and well-structured explanations. So this game does have a lot to offer families. When the electronic clock alarm goes off game play moves over to the other team, you just need to make sure you replenished any correctly guessed cards.
Our personal best was 7 cards out of the 12 placed around the clock face. We found it quite tricky moving between the different skills. You have to look at the clock, find the corresponding card as quickly as possible and react accordingly!

.Gosh I like the sound of off these games for different reasons. I hated geography in school, anything that remotely looked like a map and I would switch off. Boy do i regret that now. So, any game that embraces education and stretches kids a bitlike The Great Game of Britain is great.
I think that shake off sounds like great fun and allows for a bit of psychical activity and that is important.
The clock it game sounds like it requires patients, problem solving and determination all excellent skills to have.
So All three get my vote.

Tactical games but not too complicated played Sequence at Christmas and liked the combination of cards and game board. What I loved as a kid was Monopoly and I have tried to get interest going and their are different ones to the original
