If you have been stuck with the challenge of planning the work Christmas party, I don’t envy you this year! Thanks to COVID things are a bit different now. Whether you are calling it a fire break, a local lockdown, or a circuit break one thing for sure is that the next few months are a bit uncertain. So, what can you do instead to commemorate Christmas with your colleagues? After the year we have had you don’t want the festive season to go uncelebrated! How about a virtual Christmas party.

My husband usually helps plan the Christmas party for his staff. However he has been at a loose end wondering what to do. Personally, I think a virtual Christmas party is a genius idea! To be honest after embracing technology in lockdown I am sure most of the staff could cope with the concept too! Even I had my first virtual event with Moonpig in lockdown. If I can get my head around virtual events than anyone can! I was surprised by how enjoyable it was.

Entertainment

Firebird Events have plenty of choice, whether your work colleagues would prefer a virtual escape room, a cookery class, horse race or wine tasting. They have lots of experience and so many ideas just because your Christmas party has gone virtual it doesn’t mean it will be a bit of a non-event. Honestly, you have so many options available to you. with a little imagination you might find this is your most favourite Christmas party so far!

I think a Christmas cookie decorating session would be fun! Just make sure everyone has the supplies then you can watch the tutorial together remotely.

Dress Code

Why not get the whole team dressed in their favourite Christmas jumpers! That is sure to make them feel festive. You could even have a prize for the best dressed, you know there will always be one colleague that goes the extra mile! Alternatively buy a photo booth Christmas pack in advance and distribute it to all your staff before the virtual Christmas party. Then no-one can come up with excuses for not getting into the Christmas spirit!

Send A Gift Box

You could make up little gift boxes for all your staff full of Christmas treats. Think hot chocolate, candy canes, a bottle of mulled wine, Christmas crackers and mince pies. Maybe all open the gift boxes at the same time at the virtual party, so you have something to talk about before diving into the arranged entertainment. If a gift box each is out of budget, you can always do a secret Santa amongst yourselves. It might be a much-needed ice breaker.

The Meal

You might just have to be a bit more creative with the Christmas meal this year! See if any restaurants will offer takeaway and arrange for meals to be delivered. Another option is to include a Just Eat voucher (or similar) in your gift boxes so everyone at the virtual Christmas party can order in! You might not be tucking into a traditional Christmas dinner. But at least you have the option to pick something you enjoy.

So, you see with a little thought, a sprinkle of creativity and lots of planning you can host a memorable Christmas party. With gatherings restricted to six (or a complete ban on meeting up!) a virtual event is a wonderful alternative this year.
