I headed to the shops to pick up two Schwartz recipe mixes for a campaign I was working on. Our household already enjoy plenty of easy family meals thanks to these recipe mixes. So, I was only too happy to share my experiences on my blog. We regularly buy the chili con carne and casserole mixes. Plus, the fajita seasoning they make is another firm family favourite.

Priced at 65p the recipe mixes offer excellent value for money. With a few extra ingredients you soon have a lovely flavoursome meal. We bought the Schwartz Creamy Chicken & Leek Bake and the Creamy Parsley Sauce.

The instructions on each pack were very clear and simple to follow. Ideal if you are not the most confident person in the kitchen (like me!) but still want to rustle up easy family meals everyone will enjoy.

I think Schwartz recipe mixes are a store cupboard essential now more than ever. They are a great way to make sure your meals are varied and interesting even when you cannot get to the shops as often as you would like.

Schwartz Creamy Chicken & Leek Bake

Not only did my boys clear their plates, my youngest wanted seconds of the Schwartz Creamy Chicken & Leek Bake. We followed the instructions on the recipe mix to make it into a pasta bake. However, it’s a very versatile mix that you can serve over chicken with mashed potatoes instead. For this recipe mix you need chicken, bacon, leak, milk, and cheese.

We found it to be a substantial meal with pasta. Perfect now the weather is cooling, and we wanted something satisfying to fill our tummies.

Method:

Fry up the chicken, bacon, and leeks

Add milk to the recipe mix

Pour over the chicken, bacon, and leeks

Add to an ovenproof dish with (or without) cooked pasta and top with cheese

Cook for a further twenty minutes

Creamy Parsley Sauce

You just need to add milk half a pint of milk to this recipe mix. The sauce goes lovely with fish, vegetables, or gammon. I remember growing up my mum always used to make up a parsley sauce with cod for dinner. It was a trip down memory lane having this sauce with our family meal.
