Week 10 of 2022: A 40th birthday Party
This week my husband and I went to a friend’s 40th birthday party. We had a fab time, even though it didn’t start until 9pm. Nowadays at that time of night its PJ’s already on and snuggling into bed to watch Netflix with a cup of tea and cake. We left earlier than most, I think it was just shy of 11pm. Whereas my brother was one of the last out at 2am. The feature picture is from a wine bar we headed to before the party.
Neither my husband or I had a 40th birthday party, we choose meals out instead with a select few. But a party is actually a great idea to bring everyone together. I liked what the venue had done with the place, its been much improved since I used to frequent it when I was in my twenties.
The following morning my husband and I had a tasty, cooked breakfast.
Fortunately, with no hangover to nurse we also managed cheese and crackers at my mum’s.
Bella Update
Another week and hopefully our Romanian dog Bella will be with us. We have been given a transport date now so it’s very exciting at the moment. However it’s such a long journey for Bella to get to us. The poor little thing will be quite overwhelmed and exhausted when she finally arrives. But hopefully she will settle in quickly and love her new life with us.
Milkshakes
To coax the boys out on a walk I offered them the chance to get milkshakes. They had added a new machine in Spar, and we were excited to try it out. I went for a thick strawberry shake whilst the boys picked salted caramel. They were lovely! They cost £3.25 each so I probably shouldn’t get too hooked with everything going up in price. But I won’t be able to resist a return visit at some point I don’t think!
Blogging
This week I have written about the wonderful Jaques of London wooden toys, I was a big fan of their London Bus. Toys that help develop children’s imagination are so important. Keeping with the child theme I have a blog post about child friendly window coverings. Also, because it’s almost Mother’s Day (only 14 days to go!) I thought it might be helpful to write a post full of present ideas for mum’s. Maybe my boys can get a few hints!
Competitions
I am still entering competitions keeping my fingers tightly crossed for a nice cash win. This week I got excited to hear I had won some beauty products, although when I had a closer look (it was a French brand) I hadn’t realized they were actually intimate wash! So not quite what I had in mind. But still a win is a win!

Lol, that’s an amusing win. I’ve not won anything since advent, but haven’t done much entering recently anyway.
We tend to get milkshake direct from the farm vending machine nearby. Not thick ones, but you can choose the syrup and make them up yourself for the bargain price of £1.10 for a large bottle of milk and 50p for the syrup. N alway goes for strawberry though.
I do love random competition wins. The milkshakes look fab, wish we had something similar here, although no good for my waistline
Thats an interesting win! I’ve got a great one coming on IG tomorrow. The party sounds good although I am with you I don’t think I would have been able to go much past 11! I am getting old. I think we may have those milkshakes near us but we haven’t tried them yet. Maybe I will take the kids after school for a treat.
