Week 40 & 41 Full of Cold And All The Meals
Week 40 passed without an update as I was so full of cold and didn’t have any energy. Therefore, it is a double helping this week with a combined update. As its two weeks in one apologies for the bombardment of food pictures!
Cold
I had an awful couple of days full of cold. Then it disappeared and my energy returned but then it moved onto my chest. I hate that about being asthmatic every time I have a cold, I worry a chest infection is on the way! Fortunately, I hit the steam and started taking my preventer inhaler and avoided needing any further medication.
Cupcakes

I bought six cupcakes from my local baker who gave me some lovely complimentary treats recently. Look how beautiful they are. It’s no wonder I can never resist her cakes when I see them advertised. But I felt I deserved an extra treat this week.
Lactase Enzyme
We finally retested the lactase enzyme supplements we bought. This time my son managed four slices of cheese pizza with no ill effect the following day. Hooray! So, it does work! Well, assuming you don’t have a dairy cheesecake two hours later like last time we tested… I think my son will read the packaging on ANY desserts in the fridge much more carefully going forward. I just feel a huge sense of relief as it means he has much more freedom when we go to Las Vegas now.
Out For Lunch

I went out with my husband and a friend for lunch! I then had coconut and almond cake for dessert, but afterwards I signed up to the gym! So hopefully I can eat all the cake without any guilt soon. It’s been ages since I was last a gym member so I will have to build up gradually! Although I am hoping my weekly update will soon become more exercise based and feature a lot less food.
Fancy Evening Meal

My husband and friends went out for an extravagant a la carte dinner. My palate isn’t very refined so others would probably appreciate it more. However, I did still enjoy it. My chicken was on a bed of pearl barley, with hen of the woods mushroom and parsnip puree on the side kind of fancy!
This was a picture of the canapes. They looked quite interesting. Although I gave most of mine to my husband.

Dessert made the meal for me. The almond financier and the pear sorbet was a winning combination.

Dinner Out
I enjoyed an evening out with a bigger group of friends for a leaving do. I enjoyed a lovely cosmopolitan cocktail (check out the feature picture) and a steak dinner! I didn’t stay out too long. My idea of the perfect night out is to be back home in my pyjamas by 9pm ideally! Yes, not very rock and roll I know. But life always seems so busy juggling blogging, my community work at Co-op and running the house. Tucking into bed is always a highlight!
General Life
Other than being full of cold and recuperating, then eating out when I was better, behind the scenes its just the usual life admin keeping on top of everything. We have our first college parents evening coming up next week, so hopeful things are on track there.

Ugh! I am glad you are feeling better now. I have just started with a cold. I feel like poop!
Ohh! Those cupcakes do look pretty!
That is great news that the lactase enzyme works so well. What a relief!
The meal does sound so fancy, I love the look of the dessert. x
Some lovely food on the blog this week, I especially like the cupcakes. I tend to find being gluten free that I usually get stuck with brownies. Glad to hear the lactose enzyme works well. Hope you’re feeling better now
Glad you’re over the cold now. There’s a lot going round. The cupcakes look so nice. I’d be like you with the fussy food. It’s not my thing at all, although puddings would always be a win.
Glad you are feeling better after your cold. My son always gets an upset tummy after pizza, so wondering if these might help
Did you test for covid? We had colds and then a cough started and we tested and found out it was covid! #project365
Sorry to hear that you had a cold. Glad the preventer inhaler and steam helped avoid the need for any further medication. Love the look of those cupcakes. So glad that the lactase enzymes worked well for your son this time. What a relief for you all. The fancy evening meal sounded amazing. #project365
